Summary: They each have a war story to tell.
Note: Response to the prompt 'war stories' on my journal.
It isn’t a competition per say, simply two men comparing war stories while waiting in the silent trenches between one of Molly’s nightmares and the next. It’s far easier to backtrack over the old scars instead of dreading new ones.
Matt’s tale is uncompromising and brash, filled with dramatic showdowns, impossible escapes, cunning plans. Mohinder’s past is more a shadow war; a dangerous path littered with blood and betrayal.
They found a morbid connection recalling what it was like to watch avenging angel bullets falter in the face of embodied evil, and the incredible pain that followed soon after.
It was an odd comfort, finding solace with someone with someone who was battle hardened but not weary. And when Molly’s cry falls like a mortar-shell on their ears, they rush into the fray together. Their styles differ so greatly, sometimes they forget that they're fighting for the same side.
