After rereading the current Supreme Court decision, I now understand that, in fact, there will be no limitations on how much corporations can spend on campaigns.NO LIMITS
I don't know what the fuck to do with myself. I feel like this is almost as bad as if Cheney had ran and won the 2008 Presidential Election, except that would actually be better ( Read more... )

Obama has huge support from the financial and pharmaceutical industries, he'll be fine.

You know what? You're right.

So we get some good and some bad, some empty promises and some fulfilled, and a moderate president.

And hopefully this trend will continue because thanks to this new ruling, America will never get a true liberal into the White House.

But I'll take a moderate over a teabagger any day,

My disappointment with him is all too apparent I'm sure, but there are still some ways he can redeem himself. He could push meaningful immigration reform/amnesty through Congress, that would be huge for state politics in the West and South West. He could actually follow through with his threats against the banks, and really reform the rules. But unless Obama has learned some hard lessons from the last year, I don't think he's going to succeed. Not when the Republicans are playing Ultimate Hardball and we're the Pussy Party that can't pass legislation with 59-60 senators when the Republicans did fine with just 50. Meh anyway, there's plenty of time for the guy to pull a rabbit out of his hat, and I'm pulling for him, but recently I've come to think he doesn't have the cojones to actually fight this out. He's a very remote president, doesn't seem to get his hands dirty like Clinton did. Just my two cents.

also to be srs for a moment.

1) the internet is probably the single most democratising force evah.

2) the Corps have almost no control over the internet thus they cannot completely white wash any of the shenanigans they may have been able to get away with in the past

3) the remaining folks who depend and are fed info through the old mainstream media are declining in numbers, it should only get better from this point on, so all you really need to do, is maintain the rage.

If they get net neutrality out, then they will control the internet. And with the ability to take any corporate funds without limit, it will probably just be a matter of time before that happens. :(
Money talks. Especially in this country.
