State of the Union: Barack Obama to announce spending freeze
Though he said there were no "magic solutions" to reducing the deficit, the president will outline a three-year freeze on domestic spending, excluding the military and homeland security, in his 2011 budget that would save $250 billion by 2020.

Agencies that could be affected include ( Read more... )

*facepalm* Great. And here I thought I hadn't voted for a Republican candidate...

I have a theory. I think McCain was possessed in that POW camp by an alien parasite who over his body and was wearing it like a suit, a la MIB,* its only goal to take the White House. It wrongly assumed Americans would never elect an African-American to office, but once it became clear we would it climbed out of McCain's mouth and into Obama's while they slept.

Once I'm done with my teaching credential, I'm moving to Melbourne. Coming with?

*This also explains why he can't move his arms above his head.

I still think he has potential to do more good, and the Supreme Court decision certainly isn't his fault, and I even recognize that he has done some good already, but my disappointment in this spending freeze proposal is all too apparent.

I don't know... I still like him. I just realize now he was never the liberal progressive I'd hoped he'd be. He's really is a moderate.

To be honest, I kinda wish his wife were president...

In all seriousness, if Barack and Michelle were running against each other, I'd vote Michelle all the way. Unless John Edwards was back in the running, but I don't see that happening.

I don't think I like Obama anymore. I don't DISlike him. I'm very neutral, but the more things like this happen the less I trust him. The result of a personal campaign that appealed to idealists is the feeling of betrayal when things like this happen. I don't blame him for the Supreme Court. It's a mistake to think a president runs the country alone. But I really was hoping for more of a progressive when I cast my vote.

Obama's new masters are the corporations he'll need to fund his 2012 campaign (which I hope he loses) so this is no surprise.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that it sounds like a "rather modest" proposal after a year on a "spending binge."
Lol at "spending binge." This is coming from an advocate of the Iraq War, a dedicated supporter of President George W. Bush and his policies, and a fan of the TARP bailouts.

Yeah. Because the last thing you want the Federal government to do when the economy is in a slump is to put dollars in people's hands. Someone should start a "Resurrect Roosevelt" campaign. I'd join it.
