Found this gal on my front porch yesterday night. Fed her a recently deceased moth and she seemed to really dig it. This morning she was still there, looking fat and happy. If she's still around when I get back tonight, I'm buying her a terrarium and loving her for the rest of her male cannibalizing life.

Your mom will love you forever if you find all the aphids in her garden and feed them to your mantis. They also like crickets, which you can find at pet stores.

I had a mantis when I was little and her name was Jasmine, and she made an unfertilized eggsac and then she died.

I just read this tidbit of factoid on Twitter recently:
from @mental_floss

The male Acarophenax tribolii mite hatches while still inside its mother, then impregnates its sisters and dies before birth.

How's that for a life?!
