just based on experience of trying to find a place to live right now it's going to be very difficult for him to find a place to live for $350 unless its in the suburbs. one bedroom places in cambridge/sommerville are going for about 750 (at the lowest) right now. however, as i'm i'm sure you know, use craigslist...it really is the best way to find a place to sublet especially since all the college kids are leaving for the summer
I won't be home this summer, but we do have a spare bedroom/bathroom on its own floor in our house. I don't know how my parents would feel about it, but knowing them they'd probably love having someone else around. If it turns out that he's not finding anything, let me know and I will bring it up with my parents.
If you could bring it up with your parents as soon as possible, that would be amazing. We've both been looking and it's been tough. He almost had a place in Allston, but was like a day late and the room was gone. And if he could live in Arlington, that would be ideal. Also, he's a grad student working on his masters' in Philosophy and it's term paper time... he has three to write in the next month, including one on Hegel (who he doesn't understand at all). He doesn't really have time to devote hours and hours each day to looking for housing... he's got a grant that covers all of his tuition plus gives him a stipend, so it's kind of important that his grades stay up.
So yeah. Please ask about it. Like I said, he'd help with rent and/or groceries or mowing your lawn or lighting things on fire so Tad can juggle them. I'll send you both of our cell numbers so that they can talk to us directly if they have questions.
I hope you have a fabulous end of the semester! Thanks so so so much.
um, i can't remember if i facebooked you back, but i'm asking a friend who lives with the salvation army in dorchester if they've got space for the summer. they normally house gordon/exchange students during the school year, so they might have room, but i dunno if they take people. i'll get back with more details.
