Computing Higher

Ugh, I cannot stand Computing.

My Teacher was all supportive an nice on Friday and then I started thinking; "Maybe I can do this!" but then today he kept saying; "You're never gonna get this done." and "You're in big trouble." and then I slumped, I have this stupid mentality that if someone believes I cannot do something, they're right. Well, in ( Read more... )

What exactly are you working on? I am a female and I have a job in the computer industry. It sounds like your teacher is a prick and like many males in the industry is intimidated by a female who is attempting to "challenge" him in his field. I understand that the theory is that artist think with a different side of the brain and thus can't possibly do things like math and computers. Well let me tell you it it a bunch of BULL. It all depends on how you approach the problem. It might help if you draw it out. Without knowing what you are working on I can't be of much help except to encourage you. Many aspects of art are mathematical in nature, especially music and some forms of painting and sculpting. You can do this. Don't let ANYONE tell you you can't.

^ I agree with everything ruttan says there apart from the fact that our teacher is trying to 'challenge' a female LOL, he's just not like that I know him well. XD He just sucks at advice. If anything he hates the lads more. LOL. But yes, a teacher should NEVR say "You're never going to get this done" that is absolutely awful and it is full of CRAP ( ... )

Wow. Thank you so much for the encouragement! It means so much! It's difficult for me to describe the situation as it's an assesment of programming we've done so far in the course, so it's basically alot about Counters, use of Call statements and Variables. But a program we have to write from scratch which is quite difficult!

@.@

Thank you again so much for your encouragements, I so want to print this comment out and stare at it when I'm feeling unconfident!

^^

I don't know if you can help me with the actual work but you have helped me so much with my confidence! Thank you!

*hugs* Chin up, love. I believe in you.

Perhaps you could ask your teacher for extra help, outside of class time. Get him to go over things. I know it's a hard year, and so do your teachers. And I know a lot of my friends that did Higher Computing (I didn't myself) found it quite difficult. I think a lot of their problems lay with the notes their teacher used. So maybe you could ask your teacher if he has any other sets of notes you could try using, which might suit you better. Seriously, subjects rarely have only one set of notes on a course, and the one your teacher's using mightn't necessarily be the best one for you. Whatever you do, don't just give up. It's his job to help you, so make use of that and ask him for as much help as you need. Don't feel you have to stick with him too. If there's another teacher in the department, try asking them questions too. They might have a different way of explaining things that might make more sense to you.

Praying for you, Ims.

Thanks honey! ^^ It feels good to have someone like you who's been there, done that as recentky as you have!

I'll try asking him, actually, thanks for the advice! Sadly he's the only one, which is probably why he's so stressed at times. Thanks again!
