Well, I've generally loaned you books I think you should read, but if you're asking for somebody else, I will ALWAYS recommend Bujold. If people feel like they are more likely to respond to sci-fi, I hand them Cordelia's Honor. If they think the respond better to fantasy, I hand them Curse of Chalion.

book....Armour, john steakly. I read it over and over. its sci-fi

music...I just picked up the complex by blueman group...its very percussiony and fun.

To Kill a Mockingbird (my favorite book)
The Penderwicks (in the children's section, but totally worth the read).
Anything by Terry Pratchett.
The Lindsay Davis series about M. Didius Falco
