Kindergarden Graduation

I went to my niece Sophia's kindergarten graduation this morning, only to see her withdraw, overwhelmed by the crowds and the noise. Both her mom and dad had to run back to work so I was the only adult on site for her. She is highly sensitive to lots of people noise and just zoned when everyone was lining up for the lunch buffet, so overwhelmed

wish i did, but it's still not something I handle well. Learning to recognise when you're about to hit that point *before* you do so you can bail for a while (if possible) is about all I've got, and 5-6 is a tad young for that.

Hope you get some ideas that can help her!

At this point, the only thing I can think of is to tell her she's not the only one this happens to. Which is what I did yesterday. I hope I can help her learn to identify her feelings and how to deal with them, because it makes me feel miserable to see her suffer.
