Strength-and-conditioning expert Peter Donohoe joins the Boston dance community to help dancers enhance performance and prevent injury. Donohoe teaches a unique blend of Core Strength/Conditioning and Pilates. He will lead a four-week class called Strong Knees for Dancers, designed for dancers, athletes, or anyone active who is managing knee injury and rehabilitation.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Donohoe has been a World Class Athlete for almost 17 years. He competed in two Winter Olympic Games in bobsled, and also on the international circuit in track and field. Raised in a dance family and immersed in traditional Irish Step Dancing, Peter is not only a passionate athlete but also a great appreciator of theatre, music, and dance in many forms. He is a Fitness and Conditioning Specialist for the Boston Ballet (since 2007), and also coaches and trains private clients, including world-class athletes, dancers, and race car drivers. Peter holds fitness certifications from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and ISSA (International Sport Sciences Association).

Strong Knees for Dancers will take place at Boston Percussive Dance (Studio 3 at Green Street Studios) and will run for four Thursdays from Oct. 8th - 29th. In this 40-minute class, Peter will address knee anatomy and function, and injury rehab and prevention, with individual attention on students' specific needs. He will lead an upbeat, variety-filled workout that focuses on knee strength and stability, as well strength-and-conditioning of the core and the body as a whole.

Training with Peter has resolved my patello fermoral syndrome and completely changed my approach to strength-training for dance. Peter combines knowledge and experience with humor and an infectious positive attitude. Anyone would benefit from his class.
