This is meant to be a learning question, not a snarky question - why is the leaf framed more centrally rather than to one side or the other?

(Because when I see your photos, most of them the subject is not central)

I don't remember exactly, but probably because there were distracting elements that would have been introduced if I'd done that (like the edge of the sidewalk). As it is, I had to take a couple of things out of the upper right and left corners using the magic of liquid rescale. ;-)
