I've been MIA for a while. Between graduate school, dealing with my emotional problems/eating disorder, and a hard-drive crash that zapped some fics I've been meaning to update...things haven't been going so well. This sadly means I had to start again on the last chapter of 5-0 First Dates

What did you think of the character choices? Initially, Steve was the obvious choice for Mal, but the in thinking about it he really has more similarities to Danny.
Steve as Simon might be a stretch to say the least, but I've always had a thing for nerdy!Steve so I decided to just go with it.

The other roles really fell into place quite nicely after that. All except for River and since she's my favorite Firefly character, I decided to just leave it a mystery if I couldn't fit the role right.

Danny is better for Mal I think :) River is a complex character in my opinion, it will be hard to choose an another one for her. In my mind she always will be Summer Glau :) and Rachel as an ambassador was a real twist :)
and oh yes, nerdy!Steve :) We love him :)

So I didn't actually get the fusion until they got to Rachel's pod and started discussing her appointments and money and space. Then I figured out it was Firefly. Then all the characters fell into place. Guessing Kame is the "Jayne" character. Nicely done. I'm intrigued to read more and to see if Mary will play "River" or you'll twist It and use Catherine instead. You could have a lot of fun here. It's also nice to see Danny is the "Mal" character instead of Steve. He's in charge for a change with Kono as his second. Love it.
