"If you can find the money to kill people, you can find the money to help people."
-a member of British parliament in Michael Moore's soon to be released movie "Sicko"

So far we've found plenty for killing.

In some states, the link between illiteracy and incarceration is so strong that officials use the results of third-grade reading tests to predict future prison construction.

I read the other day that the total money spent on the military by the US since WWII is greater than the value of everything in the country (ie trucks, planes, streets, schools, hospitals, water systems).

You'd think we could at least have decent schools or school books.

And if we spend so much on the military, wouldnt we have less enemies if we spent it all (or a good portion) on other countries. We could build schools and hospitals. When they heard of someone attacking us they wouldn't cheer, they'd kick their asses for us.
