for those of you following the saga.. The final diagnosis is the battery positive cable was shot, and why the car was running at all is a mystery

Glad they finally figured it out!

I wonder if the reason they were getting bad readings for the alternators is they hooked up their device to the bad cable instead of directly to the alternator?
