I have an heirloom cherry tomato plant that i grew in a bucket last summer. I took it inside on the second floor when there was an autumn frost warning and more or less forgot about it. It wilted a bit, but it sipped from the reservoir (it's a drilled-out 5 gallon bucket inside a 6 gallon bucket with an overflow hole, so there's always drainage and the roots reach down into the water) and continued to produce a tomato or two at random intervals ever since. I picked and ate one last week! I dried out a few dozen seeds from that one and will try to start them very soon. I'm hoping to grow a lot more of my own food this year. I'm also hoping to make a nice backyard composter. A friend offered me an old washer and dryer and I think the perforated drums might be well suited to composting once I liberate them from their appliance confines.
i looked back at the date and realized i posted that during the begining of what has been a nearly two month funk for me.
i was marveling at how the success of the plants contrasted my feelings about whether i was growing or healthy.
i really hope things have been good for you. i keep having the same thoughts and maybe, i don't, you could look at them and tell me if i'm just nuts. you knew the crazier son of bitch i used to be.
