And when the good times have to end... (something like that)

Dec 22, 2006 04:23

I've been calling people "boy-o" a lot lately. I'm gonna stick with that.

Random 4:30am posts.... word.

I've had an excellent every-day-since-Tuesday. My optics final let out around 3pm on Tuesday, and I immediately sold back the book. I had 3 final exams the week previous, that's how I got done so early. But yeah wow, this semester has been such a serious downer on everyone I know, it's hampered the good times of college that I have come to know and love.

I've had great friends around, been listening to some nearly orgasmic music, and just having a chill out wonderful time. Tonight was expecially good though, because most everyone else finished finals tonight, so there was this huge positive vibe in the air. Laurel came over and made everyone around (heh, probably about 15 folks), she made everyone lasagna and brownies. And then she cleaned my kitchen and did the dishes! She has that weird cleaning spark that some people have... can't complain :)

And hell, every now and then I'm awake at 4:30am, and I get into a writing mood. I blame it on restless fingers. (sounds hot, doesn't it?) Been talking and chatting a lot tonight with everyone, and as a result, I've been drinking a lot of water to compensate... and well, you give a mouse a cookie, and he'll probably want to pee on your rug. Be back in a sec, actually...

Side tangent thought of in the bathroom: This is mainly a question for the bio disciplines out there, is there an explanation for the feeling of "positive vibes?" You know how sometimes you can walk into a room, and you just feel the energy from happy, good natured people? In the same sense, band folks, have you ever been told by your director to play a piece... then play the same piece over again, with eyes shut and smiling, thinking about something happy? The smiling piece sounds so much warmer. I was wondering if there is a biological 6th sense for vibes. haha and shit, that's the only way to put it: good vibes.

Anyways, I like writing an entry with some narration, you know, giving the reader an idea of what I'm doing while writing. I think it makes things more personal. Gives people a timeline too. You know how sometimes you start writing an entry, then don't finish for hours due to that influx of ideas? ~ Oh and hey, mini survey, won't take more than a second of your time, could you leave a comment on this entry if you actually read all this? And in general, if you actually read my entries? I'm really just curious of who I'm actually writing to, gotta know one's audience, right?

So right now I'm over at Randy's apartment area chilling with Ian and Andrew, chillaxin' on Randy's comuter because he went to sleep hours ago. I'm presently in my boxers and wearing my stolen purple hat from my friend Courtney. I'm pretty sure I look pretty weird right now.

Back to that topic of reading entries though, he's me being frank. (oo look at me, I'm frank!) I'm sure you have people on your friends list who post long entries a lot, that you typically just scroll over. They write a lot, but a little too frequently, ya know?

The future: Well, the near future. Monday is Christmas, and that's so soon! Tech's finals week is a week later due to starting after Labor day this year. It's so weird, because everyone is stressed out about finals so much, that we forget how close Christmas really is.

Saturday 23rd: Drive home, possibly catch some of Stamp'd playing in Sagina
Monday 25th: Christmas
Tuesday 26th: Drive out to Grand Rapids to see the Holiday Ska Fest Tour with Mustard Plug and Deal's Gone Bad.
Wednesday 27th: Go see The Card Sharks play their (final?) show out in Romeo, subsequently hang out with long lost Romeo kids :)
Thursday 28th: Go see the Murl Benefit show at Kenedy and see all of the ol' Ferndale bands play. I don't support the Murl part... I've never really liked her ways... but I support local music, and shit it's the Wiley brothers! Gotta see them!
Friday 29th: The muthahfuckin' Motor City Ska Fest. Good lord I love this show. I might even rant about it after my schedule here is done :)

The events on Tuesday (G-Rap) and Wednesday (Card Sharks) are only on the condition that I've got the money to do them. Maybe work my way into the shows free? Something like that. I ended this semester pretty far in the red, and I need to refund. The week after that will be pretty free, probably work a bit for my grandma to make some extra money. I need to get good in a job that will like, re-hire me for the two weeks I am home. I come home with such a random frequency though... tis life.

Motor City Ska Fest: I've liked this show for the 2-3 years that I've been going to it. It's so very much a homecoming show for college and highschool kids alike. Everyone young and old is on vacation, so classes and shit are not in question. For college, you get to see all of the old concert friends and the cool highschool kids you never hung out with enough. But you know, my old friend Dave (Dave I wish we hadn't lost touch so... much... if you're reading this), Dave once said to me, that everytime I came home, and we hung out, that it was like I never left. That feeling is how I feel about the MCSF. The Detroit shows have a certain feeling of being at home, and this concert is the mecca of said events.

Every now and then you get a drunkard who just wants to thrash in the crowd, or a punker who just wants to like punk, but in general it's a really nice, and young crowd too, that helps. This year will be expecially amazing though, due to two old Detroit ska bands getting back together. All bands in attendance are very straight ska bands. Yeah, MP is a little more punk ish, but no one is confused as to what kind of music they play, ya know? I'm reminded of last year's show, where there were a couple metal and/or indie bands playing, and they just brought in a bad crowd. But no, this show is going to be so ska it hurts, such positive vibes!!!

Ska : My Anti-Drug (har har har)

Hey Keith/Craig, do you read this journal? (I suppose I could actually ask them online... no no, this is better) It's cool if you guys do, word.

So it has come to 5:15am, and I am going to get off of Randy's computer. The other folks are going to bed, and my conversation will soon be gone. Merry Holidays, Festive Christmas, and a horny-jack-rabbit-sexin' good Chanukkah.
