I think love is the most complicated emotion there is. You can love and hate someone at the same time. You can love someone but not lust someone or the reverse. Loving is powerful, painful, great and awful all at the same time. It's the glue that holds people together, and also the wedge that drives them apart.
Love is, quite simply, a desire to be exactly like someone. When you love someone, you idolize them; and when you idolize them, you by definition want to be like them in some way. But since we can't be someone we're not (or at least not entirely), we choose to be with them instead. After all, there would be nothing better than for them to "love" us back, right?
Of course, this is just my opinion. Love is something different for everyone, I think. If you want to take it literally, it's a series of brain signals that tell you that you like someone's pheromones. Sexy, huh?
