Who: Angie & George
What: The talk that Fred suggested they have.
When: Today?
Angelina knew that Fred was going to try to get George to talk to her, and she spent the couple of days after her own talk with Fred waiting for George to approach her. But he didn't. At least not soon enough for her. So she decided to corner him herself. During their transfiguration lesson she wrote him a note telling him to meet her down at the Quidditch locker rooms after dinner and slipped it into his bag. Hopefully he wouldn't ignore it.
He didn't ignore it, once he managed to see it. He found the note while putting his things away after class, skimmed it, glanced to Angelina, and tucked it away again. Well. Great. He ran a hand through his hair, thinking things over. Talk to Angelina? Avoid Angelina and make Fred mad? It sounded like a lose-lose situation to him.
He didn't approach her all day, so after dinner when Angie went down to the pitch she wasn't very hopeful. She lounged against the wall of the locker rooms and sighed, deciding she'd give it a half hour. If he didn't show, she'd leave.
George was going to regret this, he knew it, but... After dinner, he procrastinated for about ten minutes before he headed down to the pitch.
When over ten minutes had gone by, Angie's hope dwindled even more. She turned to look up at the castle when she saw a blip of red hair in the distance. She smiled a little to herself, maybe he had decided to come.
She wasn't looking anyplace close to his direction when George approached and he rolled his eyes when he got there, reaching out to tap her shoulder.
Angie jumped a little when he tapped her and turned around, "You came!"
"Yeah." He rubbed the back of his neck. "You wanted to talk?"
"Yeah," she said, shifting on her feet. "Fred talked to me and told me everything and I'm really sorry George. I want to fix things."
"He did, huh?" George asked, concentrating on the important part of that sentence. "And what all did he tell you?"
"That he's the one who hurt Ginny, which I know you pretty much told me yourself but I didn't think you were serious and that he feels bad about everything and he's done. He won't keep doing the things he's been doing."
Thing he'd been doing? Sure. George shook his head. "Right. So..."
"So...talk to me again? I miss talking to you."
"Well..." He rubbed the back of his neck again, thinking things over, then flashed Angelina a grin. "Okay."
"Really? Just like that?" She smiled back at him, "Cool. So, since we're talking..can I ask you something?"
George shrugged, still smiling. "Sure."
"Why've you been looking at Fred all funny?" She owed Fred for what he did, so she might as well do what he asked.
"...what?"
"Well I don't know if you know this but Fred and I talked a few days ago and he asked me to ask you why you were looking at him funny. Apparently you woke up and starting giving him weird looks."
"Don't be dumb," George said, waving a hand. "He's imagining things."
"Are you sure?" Fred had seemed pretty curious about it, but maybe it was just some trick of the light or something. "Fred seemed pretty sure, but if you say you weren't.."
"S'nothing."
She got the feeling he wasn't telling the truth. "Okay. I'll just tell him he was imagining things. He was probably just weirded out because he thought you were dreaming about him or something."
George coughed. "Yep. That's got to be it."
"Are you catching a cold?"
"Er... Sure." George tried a smile. "I didn't eat much. Thinking about going to the kitchens. Want to go?"
"You should see Promfrey if it's really a cold. Don't want to get anyone else sick." She smiled at him, "Sure. I ate but I'll go with you."
"Great! We'll pick up Fred and Lee and make a whole trip of it. It'll be great."
"Sounds like fun!"
George grinned. "A'right, then."
"Kay. Let's go." She nodded towards the castle, feeling playful, "Race you?"
George shook his head. "Nah. Maybe next time."
She shrugged, "Okay. Walk then?"
"Sure." George put his hands in his pockets as he walked along. "So we're friends again. Which is good. Never really wanted to stop anyway."
"Yeah, friends." Anything more could wait. "It's been pretty dull just hanging out with Katie and Alicia again."
"I get that. Must have been awful after that long hanging around me all the time." He smirked. "Doesn't get much more exciting than that."
"Because you're full of surprises. Never knew what was going to happen when I went off with you."
"Exactly."
"Glad you're going to bring the fun back." She paused, "So..how've you been?"
"You know. Fine." George shrugged. "Nothing special."
"Oh."
"Yeah. Anything good with you?"
She shrugged, "Not really. Just school and stuff, and then I talked to Fred. The usual, I guess."
"Boooooring."
"Shush, you. You're pretty boring yourself."
George grinned. "I'm never boring." He laughed and threw an arm around her shoulders, guiding her to a door that wasn't the front. "You know better."
She wrapped her arm around his waist, "Well if you're so interesting then how come your life's been boooooring the last few days, hmmm? Didn't you even have any interesting dreams or see anything cool?"
"Lots of interesting dreams. Didn't see anything cool, though. I've been slacking off."
"Really? Dream about me?" she teased.
"Nah."
"Couldn't have been all that great then."
George laughed. "Whatever you say, love. Er. Angelina."
He called her love! Even if it was just out of habit, it made her smile. "Whatever I say goes. You should know that by now."
"Yeah, yeah." He waved a hand vaguely in the air. "You're always right."
"Exactly."
George smiled, but didn't argue.
Angie smiled back at him, it felt good to be talking to him again.
