As for what he might mean to gain... clearing Lady, at the least. Even if he is voted out, the Shepherd may not announce whether he was sheep or wolf, and if Lady were a wolf and cleared, likely a sheep would be next voted out. I believe Mustang knew that Ying suspected him, which may be one reason she was killed, as well as revenge for Sano-san, as she was the first to level suspicion against him. The wolves may also be becoming nervous; as time passes, pressure grows, and wolves win as a team, so he may feel that risking drawing attention to himself is worth it. Lady has been acting terribly suspiciously; Mustang may be hoping to cover that over, as he has been under suspicion before, and Lady is, to be frank, fairly obvious.
As for voting, so long as I feel I am voting for a wolf, it does not matter to me which one we remove first; if those I believe to be sheep agree on Lady, then I am agreed as well.
You know, at first I believed Mustang was telling the truth about sleeping through voting/the clue because it didn't seem that suspicious to me, but then he started claiming his interpretation of my clue was the right one because 'the Shepherd had addressed him personally' in the one he received and just, nah.
What's the point in bringing that up again if we managed to oust the wolf anyway? Lucky guess or not, it's not relevant anymore and he probably just invented it to pass as a confirmed sheep and clear suspicions away from him.
Then there's Lady, who -like Hakkai and you've already pointed out- is generally quiet and very not helpful. And, if Hakkai's new interpretation of my clue is correct, that'd mean Lady was the wolf the clue was actually referring to, right?
Either way, my suspicion vote's for Mustang right now.
It is an interesting thing to wonder. Mustang's clue, true or false, did make Cho-san return and examine the clue once again, and come up with a set of answers that would clear Ash and Mustang if Lady is a wolf, Ash and Lady if Mustang is a wolf, and Lady and Mustang if Ash is a wolf. Mustang's fixation on his own interpretation does strike me suspiciously, and I have said as much. However, if Cho-san's interpretation is correct, then either Mustang is not a wolf, or Lady is not a wolf; they could not both be wolves. If the interpretation is correct and Mustang is a wolf, then he has nothing to gain by posting this false clue except for potentially clearing himself as one who has recieved a clue; in fact, he would merely have lost, as it caused Cho-san to rethink and come up with a solution which included him

I have held off my voting on the outsing posts, simply because I have not been sure on who to cast my votes on.
As for clues, Gojyo has already made it public.

I see. There is a great deal to think about, here, and very little time to do it in.
