No, the seven settings are nothing to do with his six thinking hats. Have you heard of this? The "Thinking hats" seems to be a good way to evaluate ideas, but not so good for coming up with ideas. So even thought the bakelite effigy of Edward de Bono is wearing 5 of these six hats, the device doesn't even consider them!
