Friends Only

Well ok, I got my mom to agree to let me download trillian on her computer for the weekend. But while I was on her computer, I realized that she has been visiting my website and my livejournal, as well as other peoples' livejournals. That's not ok with me. So from now on, this will be a friends only thing. If you want to be added, just let me know

Ugh... yeah, I made my journal friends only because it's really not worth random people coming across it. Even if some person I don't know replies in my journal and says "hey, add me", then I KNOW who is reading it. So.. how annoying. But I'm glad you have things worked out now for you.

I highly dislike when parents read journals... And I think I'd hurt my parents if I found out they read mine or anyone else's I know. But I really don't want to make it friends only, because very few of my real life friends have LJ accounts and I don't mind them reading it.

Yeah, understandable. That's why I left my livejournal as public for the longest time. But I do not want my mom reading my journal. It complains about her too much to have her reading it. =)

Hey, maybe you want to actually TALK to your Mom about this? Setting healthy boundaries is a really good thing between Moms and Offspring. Maybe she has a concern, she's really worried about something, but know how to ask about it? Maybe she's just being nosy and didn't realize it would bother you, that you might feel it was intrusive or controlling? Maybe she wants to get to know you better, but doesn't realize inviting you to lunch or a movie would be a better way? Maybe something else?

Just talk to her. Be firm but kind and find out, in a trying to understand way, what was she thinking. And let her know she needs to respect your privacy. And that you're talking to her because you want to have a good relationship, as you go along.

That's my recommendation, anyway. Hope it helps!

Well, I suppose you'd have to know my mom to really fully understand, but what you say makes sense for many things. At any rate, this all happened last July (if you'll notice the date) so it's old news. So, no worries, and thanks for the advice. :)
