Appearance: Ludwig is descended for an old line of kings and is thus a big man, standing at 6’1 feet (1.85 m) tall. He has ashen skin, a long, dignified face and narrow, wine-purple eyes. His most striking feature is the dark violet mane of hair that spills over his face and cascades down to his back to the back of his thighs. He is quite vain about his hair and takes good care of it, but misses the once brilliant shine it had from his human life.
Lui’s body is powerfully built from years of sword training and horseback riding, but most of it is hidden under elaborate (albeit faded) Victorian clothing. He likes wearing black and dark purple attires with military-esque designs, usually complete with black gloves, a high collar, a long purple cape, an intricately-layered cravat and black, knee-high boots. The only piece of jewelry he now wears is the royal seal of his family against his neck.
Personality: Lui is arrogant, reserved and sly. Once praised for his skill in politics and military strategy, he has a silver tongue and a sharp mind to go along with it. He is not above using his good looks or his rich background to get what he wants, but he is fiercely independent and prefers not to get emotionally involved. He sharp gaze misses little and he is an excellent reader of a person’s true character, but he rarely reveals what he knows to be true.
Unfortunately, his natural tendency to be withdrawn has only been amplified by the long-lived life of a vampire. Once comfortable with being the center of attention, he now prefers to be left alone with a good book and a cup of tea as his only companions. The only ways to get his attention is threaten harm to things (or people) he considers precious or to be extremely persistent.
He does, however, have a soft side that he hides fiercely. Though he tolerates few, the people Lui does approve of will be protected and cherished, even if he rarely showed them any verbal approval or outward gesture of affection. He is painfully aware of all that he had lost from his previous life and deeply mourns his mother and a young cousin whom he had adored and nurtured from birth. (In honor of their memory, he tends to garden of roses and lilacs deep within his family castle, much like his loved ones used to do.) He also greatly resents the limitations of a vampire and misses the freedom to go horseback riding or to practice swordplay under the rays of the sun.
History: Born as the nephew to a German king and therefore a possible heir to the throne, Lui was raised like a prince. He spoke multiple languages, owned every material item he could ever desire and attended the most elite academies his country had to offer. He was raised to be ruthless and efficient since Germany was a military state and his father had little tolerance for weakness.
Though hardly friendly to his own peers and even to his elders, Lui was nonetheless a responsible son and looked out for his mother, whom he considered to be too kind-hearted for her own good. He was surprisingly affectionate with his slightly-younger cousin from his father’s side, a small, dirty-blond boy whom was the exact opposite of him in character. His cousin taught him to appreciate the finer things in life, especially love of things that were green and growing. In return, Lui used his considerable presence to frighten off bullies whom otherwise would’ve enjoyed to pick on his weaker cousin.
His human life ended quite suddenly on a battlefield, though not through injury. In the chaotic confusion of the battle, he felt himself being torn from his horse by hands with inhuman strength. He fought them off as best as he could, but he was dragged from the bloodshed by a pair of vampires --a sister and a brother-- whom craved a drink of royal human blood. It was the sister who, with sweet words and an even sweeter bite, completed his conversion, thankfully sparing him of her brother’s painful bite. Dazed and amnesic when he was released, Lui lost track of time as his senses and body irreversibly morphed from that of a hot-blooded human to an ageless, hypersensitive vampire.
When his bearings finally returned to him, years had past --his family had presume that he was killed in battle and had moved on after a long, state-wide funeral. In a few decades, Lui watched helplessly from afar as every member of his immediate family died, followed by their children and grandchildren. A few generations later, the royal line crumbled in the midst of a civil war, and very few of his family’s descendents still remained. The castle in which they had lived as a ruin, and most of the city was abandoned and left to rot.
Lui took up residence there a decade after the death of the last owner and did his best to restore as many of his family's old residences as he could. He attempted to keep the memory of his line alive by pretending to be a descendent of his own brother. Using the short lives and memories of humans to his advantage, he kept up this disguise for decades, often "moving away" from an area before people became suspicious of why he didn't age and returning years after as his own son or grandson.

His eyes can glow in the dark and his pupils change from round to slit-like, much like those of a cat. His fingers lengthen into claw-like structures that are capable of digging into flesh. His senses become hypersensitive and his limbs unnaturally strong, making it relatively easy for him to bring down human prey. Unlike most other races, however, he retains the humanoid shape of his body and his clothes, making him rather difficult to pick out of a crowd of humans.
