Happy New Year (and decade)! :) It's time for the yearly tradition...
1. What did you do in 2019 that you'd never done before?
Gave birth to a beautiful little girl, Vega. ♥ And so many other firsts that come with being a parent. Celebrated both my birthday and Christmas in Stockholm instead of Örebro.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I wrote in 2018 that I wanted to take better care of my body and mind and also live more sustainably and eco-friendly but I can't say that I have done so, rather the opposite. Being chronically sleep-deprived it's been hard taking care of myself and the planet. I'm not sure I will make any resolutions - I never seem to keep them anyway. I have so many things I want to get done, but we'll see what happens.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Only a colleague.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
The father of my bonus father-in-law died. He was very old, but it was still sad of course.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.
6. What would you like to have in 2020 that you lacked in 2019?
Sleeeeeeep... ZzzZZzz...
7. What date from 2019 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 30, the day my daughter was born.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Giving birth, no doubt! And surviving these past months as a mother. ^^;
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being the parent I want to be sometimes and not being able to enjoy Vega's first months more. But I guess I can't help feeling tired and sad.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really. Pain and other things related to pregnancy and childbirth.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Oh, I don't know, things for Vega? I've almost only bought things for her the past year.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
People who helped us/offered help when Vega was newborn.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Can't think of any. I haven't had energy enough to really care.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Again, all the things for Vega. I'm glad we've bought most of it second hand.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Becoming a mother, even though it's been hard as well.
16. What song will always remind you of 2019?
No idea.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) Happier or sadder? Sadder actually. :( I guess it's mostly lack of sleep.
b) Thinner or fatter? Thinner.
c) Richer or poorer? Poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping. X_X
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Crying. Feeling sad. Staring into space.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it in Stockholm for the first time. We went to one of Danne's brothers on Christmas Eve. It felt strange and a bit sad not celebrating Christmas in Örebro as usual, but my family came here on Boxing Day to celebrate Vega's first Christmas with us.
21. How will you be spending New Years?
I spent it at home feeling sad. But Vega woke up to see the fireworks and was veeery fascinated by them so that was fun. :)
22. Did you fall in love in 2019?
Yes, with my lovely daughter. ♥
23. How many one-night stands?
Haha. None.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Poldark. Vår tid är nu. I wish I could say Game of Thrones but the last season was disappointing.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
26. What was the best book you read?
Some pregnancy/parenting book (that's all I've read).
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Uh, I guess going to a concert with The Tallest Man on Earth. I've seen him live before (singing with other musicians) and haven't been overly impressed then, but he is actually great live singing his own songs.
28. What did you want and get?
A healthy baby. :)
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I really enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 33 and I spent it in Stockholm with my family and Jessica.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Dealing better with the lack of sleep and enjoying mom life more.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2019?
Maternity clothes. Not a lot of fun most of the time. Some days I was happy to get dressed at all.
33. What kept you sane?
Thinking that this too shall pass.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No one.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Environmental issues and I even took Vega to one of the climate strikes here in Stockholm. But frankly, I haven't had time or energy to really care about politics or news at all after Vega was born.
36. Who did you miss?
A few colleagues actually.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Vega. ♥ And also we've gotten to know a few of our neighbours better this year and had a couple of board game meetups with them.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2019.
That being a parent is even harder than I expected, but the moments of happiness somehow makes it worth it.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
I was aiming for the sky
Ended up flat on the ground
But once again the sun is rising
I better keep on walking
Salem Al Fakir - Keep on Walking
My 2018.
