quite a week. the last time i wrote in this was last friday. since then a lot has happened. let me fill you in.
last saturday i went to rachel, cal and tom's tri-birthday party. it was glorious. shitloads of great people were there. we surprised the three of them by getting them quiddich jerseys and by revealing that we all had one as well for the respective houses we were in (ravenCLAW). they are so dope. both the jerseys and the people we surprised. as the night went on, there began to be a rivalry of cal's home friends versus cal's rowe friends (upon revealing the jersey's it was pretty easy to pick us out). this one dude in particular who had bleached blonde hair and a darker colored goatee was hanging out with us a lot. he was kind of an ass. so we fucked with him. he was too drunk to care. we kept calling him ryan seacrest. also, i wasn't there but apparently someone who will remain nameless stuck their bare crotch into this guy's face while he was sleeping. also, at one point, ben was throwing these exploding firecracker things into crowds of people. that was hilarious. the night ended exactly how i wanted it to. i played non-intrusive, deep, introspective hotseat. it was a good crew too. we all had interesting questions to ask each other and it went really well.
the next day max, theresa and i went and saw eli litwin's band Normal Love play in Gil, Mass. which, if you don't know, is deep in the belly of nowhere, western mass. the show was in a barn. there were a few other bands there but they didn't have shit on Normal Love. eli's band is really into modern classical music and have applied those same principles to their music. the band is a 5 piece consisting of two guitarists, a bassist, a violinist and a drummer (eli). when they play, they sit down in front of sheet music like the philharmonic and proceed to play INCREDIBLY detailed and precise music. it's not something i'd blast out of my stereo, but i'd gladly see that band play live again. also, it was really good to see eli. he has an understanding of music that i will never have and interactions with those types of people are the best.
monday i worked, but then when i got home i hung out with alice for a bit. she and tom had stayed over my apartment the night previous. tom peaced out early. so alice and i went to antonio's and got food and checked in. i really like our check-ins. i want them to continue happening for a long ass time. that night i was working on a dj project and i got a call from ht. she had gotten back from post camp and wanted to hang out so we did. we watched movies (The Protector and Cabin Fever) and chilled in the apartment. it was a nice night.
the next day i worked and came back earlier than usual because i had an interview at captain video down the street. i don't think they're interested. whatever. if a college graduate with a year's experience working in a video store that lives down the street isn't good enough to work there than they can stick it up their prestigious assholes. i came back home and h had just gotten up so we hung out and watched some Cowboy Bebop (Jupiter Jazz). then we said bye which was sad sad sad. spending time with her was really fun (duh), but felt too short. i really wanted more time with her, but you can't get everything you really want. or can you (keep reading)? so that night i recorded a new track for Rediscovery and it's the best one i've done so far for this dj project. i'm so excited for it to be done. i'm only five tracks away from it being fully completed. mwahaha.
any ways, the next day was longer than usual at work, but it's ok because i got to hang out with seth that night which was lonnnng overdue. we went to a bar and grill type place and got some food and shot the shit. he told me all about his perspective on senior high and everything. i guess staff there is more exhausting. he told me about activities too. it sounded fun. i really like just hanging out with people and TALKING. i feel like i didn't do that enough this past year and want to do it more in the next year i'll be here. with everybody. any ways, after that, seth and i went back to his place and watched some Lost. that was pretty dope. i'm going to try to limit my television watching this year too. i'm going to only try to watch Lost, Heroes and South Park. maybe 24.. but it's going to have to be really impressive to win me back after that lackluster last season (ugh). Moral of the night was that i'm glad seth is around again and i'm excited for the next year to bring about many chillings with him, tom, the hamp crew and whoever else may come through the area in their travels.
thursday, i had the best sequence of events ever happen to me. i had to stay an extra hour at work to make up for the lost hours i had earlier on in the week. but it turns out in the extra hour that i was there, all i did was hang out for a pot luck lunch they were having. so my extra hour of working was just me hanging out and eating all kinds of different food. then after i left work i got a message from pk confirming that he and i will be GOING TO ITHACA DURING LABOR DAY WEEKEND TO HANG OUT WITH HT!! y'all have no idea. when the three of us get together, we're like 3 samuel l. jacksons. untouchable, bad ass motherfuckers. so in this mindset, i get into my car and "stronger" by kanye west comes on. it's one of my current jams, which means it gets blasted every time it's played and i have to rock out to it. so i did. then, when i got home, i checked my mail and realized that i got paid. best hour ever. that night i drove ian to the airport because he's in baltimore this weekend. we played this fun game in the car on the way there where we'd list off our top 5 things for a bunch of stuff. we did "djs", "producers", "mcs", "junior high activities" and others. twas twerrific.
today has been lazy. i got back from work (which was hell) around 1 and just hung around the apartment. india came over but it was pretty chill. we just watched some arrested development and played some wii sports. i can't wait until i have money again and can pay for things and go out places. today i also had really good phone conversations with alice and alejandro. they both rule.
that's about it. stuff to look forward to? sunday i'm hanging out with eli winograd and recording some scratching over a track he has. then he, seth and i will tentatively jam out with drums, turntable and guitar. also, another awesome week of work. some days are harder than others, but overall this job is very easy and the people i work with are very nice. oh and also um I'M GOING TO ITHACA AND HANGING OUT WITH HT AND PK NEXT WEEKEND. i know i mentioned that but it's worth mentioning a thousand times. dunno when i'll update again cuz i usually do this shit on fridays... hmmm... see ya later?
...
yeah.
see ya later.
