Today was my Urahara day. He's just fun, even if I did cheat and wear comfy flipflops this time for most of it. I brought the geta, but my feet just hurt from hours and hours of heels yesterday.
There was a Dancing Kakashi panel. I attended. It was pretty awesome. Though I could do without the really tall creepy redhead that freaking pulled off my hat to fan Kakashi. I mean, seriously? Why would you do that? That's someone's cosplay. Plus he just felt... off. Needed attention from Kakashi when there was a room full of people who wanted to learn, creeped out another girl during the dancing because he was pretty much grinding on her... And I found out later that he creeped on the friends I went to the con with. Ew.
But the dancing was fun. It's been too long since I danced last, way too long. Well. Aside from around my house. ...Or in the chair at work. The guy who can see me from his office sometimes gives me strange looks, and I realize that I've been dancing while I write again. This wouldn't be quite so much of a problem if I didn't work for a very... er... let us say... "conservative" place. And now, in theory, I know part of the Beat It dance. We'll see how much I retain after I sleep. But that dancing doesn't really count. There's something even more fun about dancing when others are there.
Let's see. Then I went and maxed out at the RPG. YAY. ALL FOUR YEARS. \o/ I was a pirate this year, for the simple reason that I wore a pirate cosplay yesterday. We'll see what faction wins. It'll likely be the engineers or the pirates. I wasn't seeing the military do a whole lot, and only ran into two mages. Though one of them was Dominic Deegan, which was rather awesome.
Hit the bar with Amanda and Ryan, who I went with. They make a lovely Midori Sour there, as well as a pretty decent pomegranite margarita.
And then it was the cosplay cabaret! Apparently Dancing Kakashi won too many times so they made him a judge, alas. I have no idea who the other two judges were. The mic was dead when the MC was giving names. Her voice sounded a little familiar, but the other guy didn't, and the back of his head really told me nothing. They all really loved giving out 8s. There were some really good skits, and the one I figured should win did - it was original and fun. I'm really not sure why the judges encouraged the dancing what's-her-name-that-has-dresspheres-in-FF to come back. She did the dance from the opening, with little energy or enthusiasm, so it wasn't original or very special. A guy played the Mario theme on the cello; that was pretty interesting. I love the cello. Though the first tune he played sounded a bit off in parts. I think it was nerves.
I need to find some people who want to actually do a skit and will be reliable enough that I could count on them to show up. Might see about it with Amanda and Ryan.
After that was the disappointing Naruto vs Bleach panel. All it really proved is that Naruto fans are more annoying than Bleach fans. And that people who like both kinda don't fit so well especially if they're in cosplay from one side. Though really, Bleach might have stood a chance of beating Naruto in the challenges if our dub VOLUNTEERS had actually said anything. But they sat there, staring at the screen. Why would you go up and volunteer yourself and not do anything? Oh well.
Saw Re today a few times! Didn't run into Mugie, alas. I also ran into someone whose name I forget that was in Adstring for a little while and I saw at Jacon. Val? Vanessa? I think it started with a V but with my luck with names it didn't.
After dancing in a very hot outfit (albeit with a fan) I have finally decided that I need a... slightly skimpy cosplay. I've been thinking about
Rydia for a while, and it's time. I'm also going to put together SnJ Maito Gai. I have a few ideas for the Gai cosplay.
Anyway. Tomorrow is day three, and I think I'm headed off to sleep. Sleep is good. ...After a shower. Showers are awesome.
