If anyone out there can tell me what "an ADEA" as part of a termination package might be, please let me know. Apparently its sooper top sekrit :)

It's where they are legally telling you that they are not firing you cuz yer old and replacing you with someone younger and cheeper. You have some certain rights.

Here is more info from the Equal Emloyement Opportunity Commission http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/age.html. It is an act passed to stop age discrimination in hiring/retention/etc. I've never seen a release but believe it is something you sign acknowledging that you were not released due to your age and you won't sue the company for age discrimination.

Yep, what every one has posted is correct. It surprises me that they didn't send you a complete package explaining all of this information, including copies of your pre-agreed severence/reduction-in-force (RIF) package. Don't lose anything!

PS I'm not an HR administrator yet, but I just completed my degree.
