Friend: Taipei
Mom: Does he now work in Taipei or Hsintsu?
Friend: He works in Taipei.
Mom: Oh, so he doesn't work in Hsintsu?

yeah, i guess it's good, at least, that i don't get the dirty look. i mean, i believe it's a gesture of courtesy, and to let you know that they care about you, but it really has spawned my own reactionary, (or individualstic) philosophy that people should be responsible enough to feed themselves, and i'm not going to insist that they do so, nor do i want them to do that to me.

all in all, though there is a big cultural/generational difference, i have to remember that grandma means well:)

I think the have some more food suggestion is universal among relatives. Because Minnesotans do that too.
