Art and Patty, NaNo-style (I.e., This time there'll be a plot)

Oct 27, 2008 17:12

So, November is... argh, FOUR days away!

Bloody hell. Where did the year go? Oh that's right... TOD stole it, what with all his talk of making Christmas puddings and shopping for presents. :D

So, I was planning on doing NaNoWriMo this year! The "National Novel Writing Month". Heard of it? It's when aspiring authors sign up here and then they try to ( Read more... )

yeah, I'm doing NaNoWriMo too, and I actually am doing an original novel.

So, Art and Patty, huh? Well, let me see... it always seemed to me that Art was much too complacent for someone with such a quirky personality. He needs to leave - go on the road maybe, or head for some big festival or something. Patty will want to stay behind initially because his mother and family need him, but in the end, he can't stand the idea that Art might just get completely lost, or get taken advantage of - or something!- and so he ends up going with Art on the road trip from hell.

*shrugs* that's all I got. I am finding it difficult enough to think of my own plot. LOL.

oh, and Kathy is also doing it. her userid is aandune2 (yes, someone already got her username!)

Yay! I'm so glad you're still planning on doing it!

And Kathy too...? My, my, November is shaping up to be quite the month!

I like it... Art could run away and join the circus!

What's your novel going to be about? Any ideas? And Kathy? Is she going to be a NaNo-rebel like me and do her "Totem Child" story?

Either way, we shall have to keep each other motivated with much... taunting! I mean, 'encouragement'. :D

Yes, Kathy is doing Totem Child, little rebel that she is. :-) I am writing a story about a family who goes back to rebuild their lives in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. *sigh* It's a long shot, but I am just writing what I know. :-)

Well, tell her that there's a forum for NaNo rebels! I just found it. :D

Well, you've lived in New Orleans, haven't you? That's gotta count for something! Sounds good, though. A story that should be told, even if fictional. :D

Hey, you can't pin this one on me! I didn't make it be suddenly November, I just eliminated most of the time between now and Christmas.

Ahh, bugger. (What about if I just blame you a little bit? Maybe, a tenth of the blame...? A twentieth?)

Ooh, the dancing nun! I can see it now! Only, for some reason, the image is coming to me with Art dressed up as a nun. And he's dancing on a podium somewhere... maybe at a fancy dress party...? I like it ( ... )

*Renae sneakily slips in the link for the NaNo rebels forum in which someone has started a thread on writing a collection of short stories instead of a novel*

Oops, how did they get in there?

I love your icon as well! :D

And I second the dancing nun. That has just got to be in there. Has to. (I also got the Clue reference. Mehehehe, I felt smart.)

Now for business. I very much adore Art and Patty, and I wouldn't want to see them end with a tragic ending (not that I don't like tragic/sad endings. Sometimes I prefer them), so I think it'd be nice to have the novel end on a bit of a happier note. I think they deserve it.

Oh, I'm so bad at coming up with ideas, but the road trip idea does sound interesting. And I also would love to see the roof scene stay. Man, I find myself repeating other's suggestions; sorry I'm not much help. I will try this time...oh, I've got one! Maybe, with the whole art thing, Art could actually be discovered by some other whacky artist that's crazy enough to want to put Art in a show? Maybe? Eh. Or perhaps the two could find themselves as witnesses to a crime?

Not sure. I do wish you all the best with it. From what I read I really fell in love with the guys :D

Heh, I just replied to Bree telling her that the art show thing has always been part of the plan! Only it wasn't going to happen until the end. Perhaps I should bring it on earlier...?

Such awesome suggestions!

Ha! Another person guessed my plot plans! Art getting an art show was also part of the plan, but not until towards the end. Hmm... *ponders bringing it into the story earlier on*

I agree about happy versus tragic endings. I long for happy endings while reading a good story, but, I must admit, the sad ones always affect me more and stay in my memory for longer. We'll see!

Heh, I had a bit of fun making the icon. I did it to get me excited about NaNo and the story rewrite. Now let's see if the excitement can continue come November first. :D
