Well, Here I'll post the second chapter of my fanfic. Again, I don't own the characters they own themselves. Everything that you read here is completely fictional. I do not make any money out of this.
Enjoy!
2nd Chapter "A Clear Morning"
The next day, Yukihiro woke up early in the morning embracing a purring Ren who seemed to be having a very nice dream. He rolled over to his side of the bed carefully so he wouldn’t wake him up. Yuki had to go grocery shopping since he didn’t have anything to offer his guest. After taking a quick shower and putting on a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt, he went to the shop around the corner. Looking around and getting things to eat, he saw potential gifts that he could give Gackt since he was invited. “It was last minute so I’ll give him a last minute present.” Chuckling to his own words, he took a bottle of white wine. “This’ll do it.” Putting the bottle inside the basket, he walked towards the cashier.
The girl automatically recognized him. She couldn’t hide her smile. She rapidly straightened her hair and checked on her reflection of the cigarette dispenser. Seeing such a famous man in this specific shop where she worked excited her beyond words. She thought herself the luckiest girl on the world. As Yukihiro put everything on the belt she beamed with happiness and grabbed the bottle of wine nervously. It slipped from her hands and fell to the floor braking in a thousand pieces.
“Gomen nasai! Gomen. Honto ne gomen ne!” Bowing almost until her head touched the floor, the girl mumbled nervous words of apology..
“Don’t worry things like this happen every day, ne?” Yuki winked at her telling her everything was alright.
“Arigatou.” She said smiling brightly as she picked up the shards of glass and went to get another bottle knowing she had to pay for the broken one. It was very expensive. When she came back, she spoke to him as if knowing him. “I thought you didn’t drink.” Covering her mouth automatically after speaking, she looked at him as if asking for a deeper forgiveness than before. She blushed in humiliation. The only thing Yuki could do was laugh. How many magazines spoke about him? Better yet, how many magazines did she read?
“You are right, I don’t drink.” He admitted arching his brows. “This is a gift for a friend.” Speaking more detached, he took out the money ready to pay.
“Hai, ano… It’s Y5,526. Will there be anything else?” Blushing madly the girl whispered looking at the floor with tears forming in her eyes.
“Iie. Arigatou gozaimasu. Have a nice day.” Looking at her, he gave her a tender smile. Yuki waved at her as he walked out of the shop.
Walking back to his apartment, he looked around remembering the day before. Two men had crossed paths accidentally; literally. His feet had felt better when he woke up. “How did this happen? How did I end up sleeping in my bed with a man I have never met before? He’s a stranger to me.” He mumbled to himself as he passed by the place where Ren’s bike had run over him. Shaking his head, he walked inside the apartment building.
Once inside his apartment, the first thing Yuki saw was a towel covered Ren looking around the kitchen.
“Gomen nasai. I didn’t put any clothes out for you. I didn’t think of that, and sorry for not having much on the fridge. But here…” Blushing, he pulled out the groceries to show Ren the things he had bought. Meanwhile, Ren felt he was on display. But he felt worse knowing he was looking around in a stranger’s house without permission.
“No problem. Could you show me the clothes…” Ren trailed off as he looked down mumbling and walking towards the groceries Yuki had brought. Ren was amazed at what he saw inside the bags: strawberry and chocolate pocky, cheesecake, four chocolate bars, udon, three six packs of coca-cola, eggs, fish, rice, sake, and a bottle of a very expensive wine with a bow and a card that said happy birthday. Holding the bottle in his hand he signaled to Yukihiro. “So, we are going to eat chocolate covered fish with cheesecake flavored rice, a very balanced breakfast.” He laughed out loud. “So, you know Gaku-chan very well. This is his favorite wine.”
“Honto? I didn’t know! Guess I’m a good guesser.” Yuki smiled and went to get Ren’s clothes. He came back holding a pair of baggy jeans and a red tight shirt. “These are new. I haven’t used them so you can trust they are very clean.”
“Iie. I can’t accept those. You have to wear them first they’re yours?!?! I trust the rest of your clothes are clean, so I can wear anything else. I have clothes at Gaku’s house. I only need them for now.”
”Come on, use them. I would feel very bad if you didn’t accept this. I couldn’t give used clothes. As a guest in my house I would really like it if you were as comfortable as in your own house. Think that you went shopping and bought these today. Onegai.” Yuki spoke sincerely.
“Arigatou gozaimasu Yukihiro-san. I don’t know how to repay you.” He bowed and took the clothes Yuki offered.
“You just did.” Yukihiro winked as he started to cook. “How about eggs and fish with rice?”
“Mmmm…That sounds great.” At that moment, Ren’s stomach decided to grumble.
“Aren’t we hungry.”
“Just a little bit.” Ren blushed as his stomach whined again. “I’m gonna go change now.” He went to the room almost running with embarrassment.
Entering the room, Ren could hear his heartbeat go at almost 90 mph. He didn’t understand why. ‘Why does Yukihiro-san make me feel so…so’ His thoughts trailed off as he looked around the room attentively for the first time. The king sized bed, the family pictures, the calendar, the chairs; everything was where it was supposed to be. It was so clean he was afraid that he was going to put spots on the floor just by walking barefoot right out of the shower. He sat down on the bed and started to dress. His stomach grumbled again and this time it ached. “Man am I hungry.” Ren put the towel and last night’s boxers on a laundry basket and went back to the kitchen.
When Ren entered the kitchen he breathed in the savory smells of fried eggs, rice and a fish stew. “Smells really good!” Ren said as he pat his belly. “Honestly, I can’t wait to dig in.”
“Just five more minutes.”
Ren sat down in front of Yuki and decided it was time for a conversation. ‘I have to get to know him. I can’t have slept in his arms and know nothing about him.’ “So, yesterday you said you were a drummer. What band do you play for?”
“L’arc-en-ciel.” Yukihiro said simply without ever meeting Ren’s eyes. He kind of felt uncomfortable talking about his “job”. “You said you were a bassist, what band do you play for?”
Ren skipped the question and went right to the point. “Yukihiro…Awaji Yukihiro-san? “Wow! I’ve heard your drumming skills. They are off the charts. Sugoi! I wish we could have a drummer like you on our band. But then, our style would change.”
Yukihiro gave him a weak smile. He hoped this wasn’t one of Gackt’s employees who took a risk at joining Gackt’s band so he could embark himself into stardom using his leader’s name. “Domo. You never told me what band you play for.”
“Oh! Yes, sorry. I play for Lin Clover. But our band is not that famous. The fact that I know Gackt is because we are childhood friends. I’m his ex-bassist. I used to be in GacktJOB.”
Yukihiro almost dropped the spoon to the floor. “You are the neko everyone still talks about. I hear people say: ‘when is he going to come back?’ Trust me, you are needed in that band. The new guy doesn’t play like you do. Not even Tetsu and he is a great bassist. Your fingering is amazing.” Now Yuki felt bad for what he had thought of him.
“How come I never got to meet you? I’ve met Hyde and Tetsu and I once saw Ken, but I had never met you. Why was that? And now look at the awkward way we met. This is so weird.” Ren said scratching his head.
“I don’t know. The opportunity was never there I guess. We were supposed to meet like this: injuring each other.” He laughed and served the food.
“This looks so good! Arigatou Yukihiro-san.” Ren said watching every action Yukihiro made as he brought the food to the table. The plates with the hashi points looking to the left, the glasses with grapefruit juice, the eggs over the rice and the fish stew in the middle of the table. Every single detail was done as a ritual. It looked as if Yukihiro always did this with or without guests. But somehow Ren felt that because he was here, Yuki was doing everything more carefully than ever, as if it was something on which he took pride. He waited until Yukihiro sat down. “Itadakimasu!” Ren said putting his hands together. Yuki followed and did the same.
They ate almost without speaking. The food was so delicious, the only thing Ren talked about was ‘this fish tastes like heaven, the rice is very good and the eggs…oh!’ And he would keep on eating. After they finished, Ren helped with the dishes. Yukihiro went to the table and lit a cigarette and looked at his guest. He smiled inwardly as he thought about everything. ‘He slept in, I woke up embracing him and he was purring like a kitten. I went out and bought the groceries and cooked. Now he’s doing the dishes and humming some nice melody. I bet, if anyone sees us right now, they would think us a couple. This is so weird.’ His thoughts continued as he kept looking at Ren’s back. He felt something inside him wanted to go over to him and do something, but he didn’t know what.
Yukihiro decided to leave it there and try not to think about it. ‘Weird things happen every day. I never get lost and I got lost in my own neighborhood? Maybe this had to happen. At least I can go to a party tonight.’ Thinking this, he quickly turned to Ren “At what time are we supposed to be at Gackt’s? It’s going to be in his house, ne?” Walking towards the kitchen, he grabbed the bottle of wine and showed it to Ren.
“Hai. We can get there as soon as we want. It’s an all day party so maybe there are people arriving. I know that his parents must be close by. I’d prefer to be there after their parents were a little drunk.” Ren opened his eyes wide realizing that he had spoken too much about his friend. Speaking really fast, he signaled directly to the bottle and was obvious he wanted to change the subject. “HowdidyouknowthatwineisGaku’sfavorite?”
Yukihiro smiled widely at his guest’s jerkiness and put the bottle down on the kitchen table. “I didn’t know it was his favorite. I just grabbed the first one I saw. I did hear once, from Haido-san, that Gackt liked white wine.”
“Oh! So you speak with Hyde a lot?” Ren said with open disgust.
“Yes I do. He’s my bandmate.” Yukihiro said matter of fact. “By the way you said that seems to me you don’t like him that much.”
“He’s an ass. He thinks he’s bigger than ancestry.” Speaking bluntly, Ren sat down facing Yukihiro. “I can’t stand him. I think he knows it though. We had a little encounter when they were filming Moon Child.” His eyes stowed away remembering what little or big discussion they had had.
“Care to share that info? Haido never tells me anything that could be described as confrontations. He only said that he had fun filming.” He puffed his cigarette.
“Well…He just thinks he’s better than everyone else. But…” He raised his index finger pointing out something. “He was very kind to Gaku chan. I still don’t know why. I guess they were meant to be friends. Gackt has that air too. He thinks he is the best thing in the dessert after a cold coca cola” Ren smiled inwardly.
“That, my friend, he could never be. No one is better than a coca cola. Not even ancestry.” Yuki winked smiling broadly as he walked towards the fridge and got a cold coke for himself. “Would you like one?”
“No thanks. But…Do you have some red tea?” Ren asked shyly.
“Sure!” Yukihiro went to the cupboard and got out the tea and started to prepare it. Again Ren looked at Yuki’s ritual in the kitchen. Everything was in place. Also, he noticed that Yuki had turned off his cigarette before going to the cupboard. His kitchen was very clean and no ashtrays could be found there. But he looked around and in every other corner of his apartment there was one, even in his bedroom. ‘So he takes his kitchen seriously.’ Ren thought to himself.
Yukihiro washed his hands as he started to prepare Ren’s tea. “ Do you like it with sugar or honey?” When he didn’t hear an answer Yukihiro looked back and saw a staring Ren. “Moshi moshi! Earth calling Ren!” Suddenly Ren felt himself blush. He had gone daydreaming on Yuki. Worst yet. He had daydreamt about Yuki. ‘What is wrong with me?’ He thought to himself and looked at Yukihiro as if asking to please say again whatever he had said before. “Sugar or honey?” Yukihiro asked again showing Ren both decanters. “Sugar please and thanks.”
“No problem.” Yukihiro walked towards the table and set the tea in front of Ren. “Now tell me about that thing with Haido. Don’t ever believe I will forget about it. I seldom forget things.” He winked as he sat down and took his coke again.
“It’s really nothing.” Ren blushed madly as he saw that Yukihiro kept on winking. ‘It kind of feels nice. He is different from other people I’ve met. He sure likes to wink a lot!’ Ren thought to himself as he lit a cigarette.
“I know it’s not nothing. Haido can get on peoples nerves sometimes, but he is really a lovable s&m guy.” Yukihiro chuckled. “I don’t know how Megumi can deal with it. But that’s another story. Go on. Tell me yours.” Yukihiro sipped his coke.
“There’s nothing much to tell really. Just that he gets on my nerves. I mean, he’s only 5’2” and he acts as if he were bigger than life. And after Moon Child Gaku had something like a crush on him and got obsessive talking only of all the things Hyde san did.” Ren, suddenly, assumed a pose particular to Gackt and did a really good impression of him. “Hyde is so cute when he starts to act as if he knew everything and then forgets what he was supposed to do. Also, Hyde would be my perfect girlfriend if he were a girl. Hyde is a great vampire, it is so funny; him looking so young when he’s actually older than me…blah, blah, blah… He would go on and on. It pissed me off. Then when I met him he looked at me over his shoulder as if I were nothing but a larva on the floor. Is he like that with everyone? I mean, he is so cruel. Did you know he had the nerve of calling me short? Me, someone taller than him.” Ren scoffed, puffed on his cigarette and looked away.
“Seems to me you are jealous of him.” Yuki said as he served the tea.
“No I’m not! He’s mean, that’s what bothers me. I lived with someone who believes to be better than the rest of the world for, I lost count of how many years. But Gaku-chan was never mean to me. To the rest of the world, yes, but I criticized that all the time and told him constantly.”
“And that makes him better than Haido? The fact that he’s mean to you, but Gackt would never be like that to you? You’re jealous. Gackt passed all his attentions that time to Haido and you hated it.” Yukihiro spoke calmly, but clearly.
“For your information, I lost Gaku’s attentions the day he met You san more than 10 years ago.” Ren sounded bitter.
“Must be hard not to be in Gackt’s good graces, ne?”
“Honestly? I don’t really care about that. If that were the case I wouldn’t be going to his birthday party. Ren stood up and started to pace the dining room. He stopped and looked at Yukihiro in the eyes. “I love him. We’ve been friends for way years and he’s been like a brother to me. My extended family.” Ren took a sip of tea and looked at the cup.
“So the relationships Gackt has with his bandmates and people that work for him go deeper than I thought.”
“I know he’s weird, but he cares for all of them even if it doesn’t seem like it. He’s an asshole and I admit it, but not to me. Ever.”
Yukihiro and Ren sat down in silence in front of each other for some minutes. Yukihiro then sighed, closed his eyes and prepared himself for what Ren would say after the question he had burning inside of him. “If Gackt was never cruel or mean to you, then why did you leave Gacktjob?”
“Somehow I knew that question was coming.” Ren took a deep breath and looked at the window. “It was mostly artistic. You see, Gackt has a problem with losing and people being better than him. Also, his music is his music and you better not touch it. He only gives you freedom to a certain extent. Just like democracy.” They both laughed. “Anyway, one day I tell him that I can’t go to the recording session of Crescent because I have another band and we’re having our lives. He got so pissed off that he insulted the job I did there. For him the music we played was not good and I needed something better than that because I was better than that. I was wasting my time with something that wasn’t going anywhere. My time should be with his music, where the future was. There was nothing else but Gackt. I needed to express my voice outside of Gacktjob, but I knew Gaku would never let me be myself there. I liked a lot what I was doing with LiNCLOVER. I still love it. I would spend the rest of my life with my band even if it doesn’t go anywhere. So, I said goodbye to him and wrote a letter to dears and now I’m here playing my music and doing it freely the way I want it. That’s that.” Ren shrugged and drank the rest of the tea.
Yukihiro took a deep breath after listening to Ren’s story. ‘Now everything’s clear. At least now I’m prepared to know what to expect of Gackt.’ He thought to himself and took the cup and cleaned it and threw away his coca cola can to the trash. He looked out the window and somehow the day became clearer than the morning had been. “Should we get going now?”
“Sure. If you want to? I’m not in any hurry.” Ren stood up and went to the sink and washed his hands.
“Ok, I’m going to get changed and we leave.” Yukihiro went to his room as Ren waited for him outside.
