The dreams begins in the apartment of a young girl. She lives alone, yet the apartment is furnished in a lavish manner, a high-end table and rug dominate the center of the room, while a top of the line plasma screen television sits upon the rear wall. Upon closer inspection, the television is covered by a fine layer of dusts, having lay dormant for an unknown period of time. The girl, purple haired and bespectacled, sits at her low table, a massive pile of books sprawled out in front of her. The topics the tomes cover range of complex subjects from sub-atomic physics and String Theory, to more cryptic subjects such as UFOs and time travel. It seems the girl is an avid book worm, as books are randomly spread through her massive, by Japanese standards, apartment. Turning focus to the girl herself, her complexion is ghostly pale, as if she had purposely avoided sunlight for months on ends. Upon her face she wears a expression of sadness and solitude, something seems to be missing from her rather solitary existence. However, before misery can truly take hold in her soul, a ring comes at the door. Finally, she thought, someone had to break the tediousness of her day to day existence. The purple haired girl slowly turns the door's knob, wearing a less then cheerful smile on her face to greet her visitor.
"Asakura-san? What are you doing here?" She seemed surprised to see the blue haired girl standing before her.
"Come on,silly, you knew I was coming to check on you today!" Ryoko was full of energy and vigor, a stark contrast to her pale friend.
"I guess I forgot, the days all run together now... But, you should come in..." The purple haired girl invites her friend to sit at her book strewn desk, quietly setting aside enough space for her visitor to put down her things.
" You look so pale Yuki-san, is something wrong?" Ryoko seemed genuinely concerned for her well being, judging by Yuki's expression, she may have been the only one. Before answering Ryoko's question, Yuki twiddles her thumbs for several minutes, as if she clearly wants to say something, but simply cannot convey the feeling in words. Finally, a brief statement issues forth from Yuki's pale lips.
"That boy..." Another pause, Yuki seems in pain trying to find words to express something very dear to her. "Do you think he liked me..."
"You mean Kyon-kun? " Ryoko was shocked her little Yuki-chan had a crush on anyone, she was so sheltered, this was a new experience for all involved.Ryoko thought long and hard before speaking, she didn't want to crush Yuki's hopes and dreams. As far as she was concerned, Yuki was a fragile flower, a being that needed to be sheltered from the rest of the harsh, brutish world. "I do, Yuki-chan, he seemed really concerned about you. Just don't try to hard, I don't want you to exhaust yourself again..." Ryoko smiled all the while speaking.
The statement seemed to have a profound effect on Yuki's mood, within moments of Ryoko's statement the sadness that had dominated Yuki's face had melted away, replaced by a smile of confiedence, charm, and a distinct happiness. A smile that screamed "maybe their is hope for me after all..." With that, the dream ends, Yuki's smile remains a point of reference until the world is again devoured by darkness....
