The problem is that they're not trying to "reform", they're trying to remake the entire system in one shot. That's not going to cut it. People want reform as in, actual reform. I don't agree with you on a slew of this stuff, but I do agree with you on voting on each issue.

It was odd, just the other night, my folks sat down and figured out the entire mess and how to fix it. A bit odd, really, but I don't think it'll take 1100 pages to trascribe either. ;)

I'd love to go to a Town Hall. Not to peddle hate or idiocy (and really I don't think you really mean that either; most people are actually there for the issues and I've not heard of any actual hateful behavior that's been substantiated other than the fight outside one of the Town Halls), but because I'd love to see Boxer get up there and explain how exactly she thinks she's representing me.

But we're not having any. Because Boxer is a weenie.

So what about the folks bringing pictures of Obama made out to look like Hitler? The folks who are just shouting to be disruptive? Folks showing up to spread lies that have been debunked over and over?

Realistically, the only thing that can be considered remaking the system is a public option, if it's passed (which I doubt). And trying to run it based on Medicare rates will fail horribly - the rates are already too low for too many patients.

I don't know how many folks are shouting *just* to be disruptive and "showing up to spread lies" is pretty freakin' subjective there, particularly if the "spreading lies" is spreading things that Obama has said himself about the plan.

As for the Hitler thing, yeah, that's a bit far gone.

The public option is remaking the system. I agree with you there.

I'd prefer to see how the health insurance exchange reshapes the market before going for a public option - one of the problems now is that several areas are dominated by 1-2 companies, and if the exchange can bring more competition, it will lower prices in an of itself.

But, I understand the Dems not wanting to wait - if they don't do it now, they may never have this opportunity again for years, since the Republicans won't pass it even if the rest of the reform package fails to hold down prices.
