Today was my first day of solo parenting! Sort of. Church ladies are bringing dinner for the next three nights, so there’s that, but today it was just me (I mean obviously my husband co-parents, but he’s at work most of the day).
His mother left super early yesterday, so we went to church, which was pretty good, though he spent a good chunk of church walking the halls to help Olivia stay calm and quiet (church was technically during her nap time but she didn’t really stay asleep). After church we were at home for a bit, but then one of Cody’s coworkers had invited us to her house for a Father’s Day dinner. It was very nice, barbecued food (even though it was rainy so we stayed inside) and a very nice cake. Everyone here is so nice! We had a lovely time celebrating Cody’s first official Father’s Day.
After Cody left for work, it was just me and Little Miss. We did pretty well - she slept through me eating breakfast and showering and getting some laundry started. Then we went to the DMV - which was pointless, because apparently if my insurance card does not include my middle initial it does not count toward registering my car - and the post office to get some more stamps (yes, I bought a 100 roll when we first moved here and I already need another one). But we got home and Olivia was a bit fussy for not really sleeping while we were out, but once she ate she and I had a good long nap, and then she woke up and I gave her a bath. While she was sleeping I managed to finish the laundry and also vacuum. And sterilize pump parts.
And write this journal entry. I expect that ordinarily during this time of day I would be preparing dinner. Olivia is more or less on a three-hour feeding schedule, which is good, although that can apparently be altered if she’s gaining weight really well at her next doctor visit. Some kind of schedule is helpful for the both of us.
But now she is crying and not showing any signs of wearing herself out. It’s not super distressed crying, but it’s crying all the same. She tends to wriggle herself free of her swaddle, then get mad that she’s no longer swaddled. Contrary girl already. I love her dearly.
I managed to find a few words earlier today and finally finish the first ep of Good Omens, which I am loving. I would SUPER like to watch some K-drama. We shall see how that goes...
