OMG! My mom makes 'lemon squares' which are very similar. THEY ARE DIVINE! I haven't had them in ages though... I'm thinking I should remedy this as your lemon bars look OM NOM NOM! ♥___♥

More American than apple pie! (Which is...not that American...) apple_pathways January 14 2011, 17:28:02 UTC
The chocolate chip cookie! One of the few sweets I will always melt at the knees for. And there's an urban legend surround this one! How fun!

There was an email circulating in the 90s about a woman who enjoyed a rather scrumptious chocolate chip cookie at Neiman Marcus (an upscale department store). Falling in love with the cookie, she asked for the recipe. The waitress informed her that they could not give her the recipe, but that she could buy it for "two-fifty". The woman asked for it to be added to her tab, and she left with the recipe. When she got her bill, she discovered a $250 charge for the recipe. Outraged, she asked for her money back. The store outright refused as she had "already seen the recipe", and so, to get revenge, the woman decided to forward their recipe to everyone she knew. An urban legend was born!

The story is, of course, completely false. The funny part is: Neiman Marcus didn't even sell chocolate chip cookies at the time! (They do now!)

Anyway: it is a very good recipe for a very good cookie ( ... )

I think chocolate chip cookies are possibly a gift from the gods because they are basically the best cookie on the planet - bar none.

These ones look particularly delectable. *licks lips* I'll definitely be trying these out sometime Very Soon. ♥

Also loved the urban legend DVD extra to your cookies! AWESOME! :D

COCONUT MARSHMALLOWS!! steps 1-5 ego_chan January 14 2011, 18:42:20 UTC
MARSHMALLOWS! I love them. Today I am probably making chocolate ones, so I will take photos.

In the meantime, here are coconut ones I made a few days ago. I don't have conversions to grams or anything. But you can always google conversions, so it's all good. I think the original recipe is from about.com, but it tweaked it a bit.

6. Pour the marshmallow mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top flat with an offset spatula any spatula you have because dude, you are going to cover these in coconut, so no-one's gonna notice a bump. Immediately sprinkle another cup of the toasted coconut on top of the marshmallow in an even layer. The remaining coconut will be used to coat the sides of the marshmallow squares when they are cut later, so set it aside for now. Allow the marshmallow to set for at least 6 hours, or overnight ( ... )

Sorry it is so long, but candy doesn't let you leave steps out. And my immature sense of humor needs LOTS AND LOTS of room.

But they are really very easy. Truuuust me. I am scared to making candy, and I made these just fine. On a day that--le!gasp!--was actually kinda humid. So yeah. Easy-peasy.

And they are baking because the coconut goes in the oven at one point. And people sell these things at bake sales.

Okay, so I will shut up now.

:O Nommmmmm!!!! That cake looks amazing! Yum! I bet it would taste even better with some sort of alcohol in the frosting. XD lol, I never do that sort of thing, but now that I've had pancakes with Bailey's/Kahlua and a White Russian cake (in the shape of a certain portion of non-female anatomy...), I'm warming to the idea of alcohol + foodz.

Great pictures!!! :D
