I mentioned to acchikocchi a while ago that I was going to write a post about how I write DV and DS. this is kind of that post? or just me blathering on.
by "write a real comment" I guess I meant "fall asleep early and wake up with the plague", since that's what happened. bleah. anyway, my thoughts, probably fairly disjointed as half of them were written on cold medicine.
background: I was familiar and with and vaguely fond of the pairing and its component parts for some time before I got, shall we say, personally invested. that happened right around the World Cup -- specifically, I went back to watch Spain's Euro 2008 matches (having completely ignored them in favor of Germany at the time) and by the end was watching in one hundred percent David Silva Vision(tm). and then some how David Villa came along, too. like a package deal.
in regards to DS, the timing -- just as the whole starting lineup debacle went down, as the Man City transfer went through (and looked at the time as though it was due to preferable options falling through) -- influenced my attitude a lot and still kind of bleeds through into... everything. I want everyone to understand what a great player he is, and I

I'm not saying that I can create OTPs with my mind, I'm just saying that CRon/Messi will be the next big thing. trust me.

rewatching Euros, I need to do that! at the time, I was a complete mess of panic, because I was rooting for Spain and constantly expecting them to be depressingly defeated. I actually left the room during the pks with Italy every time Spain had a penalty, then I'd come back to watch Italy kick, then leave again. and so on. but: by the end was watching in one hundred percent David Silva Vision(tm). and then some how David Villa came along, too. like a package deal.
YES YES YES. Euros was like. the golden era for them. ironically, all the fic I wrote then was SUPER ANGSTY but what can you do.

they were really fantastic. I know there's already been plenty said about the super-defensive opposition against Spain in the World Cup and how that affected the matches, but watching the two sets of games around the same time, they really looked so much more, hm, imposing in the Euros. like, the dissection of Russia? oh maaaan. totally exciting for a rewatch, is what I mean.

YES, so true. for some reason, this post has so much awesome stuff on it (most, if not all of it, due to my fellow-commenters, who brought their A games, as the kids say.)
YOU MAKE ME WANT TO WRITE A Morientes R/M Primer, except I don't write much R/M or even any really good ones I can recall (that isn't AU) in their Football Saga, which may or may not still be ongoing (minus the angst at this point, hopefully, you would think 9 children between them would make them forget their troubles, because, like diapers and cute giggling things--yeah I need to get an Early Learning diploma, I really should). And their Saga is pretty much on all the sport newspaper archives, Morientes, as private as his is (in comparison to former Madrid players), is actually more forthcoming when journalists question him about things. But I feel that it would go along

So, I just found out acchikocchi's cornerflag fic is Raul/Mori, which made me both !!!a;ksdfa;skdjfa;skjfas;djfa;sjdf!!! and a little sad at the same time not because of anything other than CF is for rare pairings. When did they become rare? But then I remembered it's Raul/Mori fic and got all happy and aljsdf;aoieur;wojar!!! again.
But on the other hand I feel like an R/M primer was never much necessary because they are SO CANON. So maybe, on a collective subconscious level, (I remember talking to (you? Shay?)) is the football fans who witnessed it just processed it as FACT and not as potential fandom fic. Because it's SO CANON.

I think Mata has so much potential for at least Gen Fic, at the very LEAST. And Canales also has the dubious distinction of being "wanted" and then "discarded" by Madrid. For these young'ins so much non-romance angst is like...calling to me.
