We are in Japan! I'm sitting in a net cafè called Gran Cyber Cafe in
Shinjuku. 290 yen (a couple of euros) for an hour plus free drinks and manga. Yay. We still don't have accommodation in Kyoto and are trying to research that. Not having much luck, everyone wants to go to Kyoto next week, apparently. Hopefully we don't have to abandon the idea of going there.
No one of our party slept more than 3 hours on the night before we left. I personally slept 1,5 hours. Also, sleeping in the airplane was pretty difficult, so that meant two nights of next to no sleep. Still we managed to stay up all of yesterday after arriving to Tokyo in the morning. Ate
kaitenzushi for lunch, walked around the Waseda and Takadanobaba areas and in the evening ate in an
izakaya. There were 8 of us in total, us 6 who are travelling and 2 exchange student friends. One ordered food for us in Japanese and thanks to him we had no problems at all. Much fun and laughter and good food and I got to taste
onigiri for the first time! Random people stared at us and one even said in Japanese, "Look, look, foreigners!" :D
We went to bed pretty early, around 10 pm, and slept until 12 pm today, meaning 14 hours of sleep. Not bad at all. All of today has gone into walking around Shinjuku and visiting the government building and seeing the skyscrapers from the 45th floor or something. We ate
okonomiyaki and even fried them ourselves. Very good stuff.
Okay, time's up, have to get going. It should be dark soon and there will be enjoying of Shinjuku with all the neon lights on.
