One good/bad consequence of my promotion is my employer is going to buy me a cell phone. I don't need anything fancy, just voice and text for the time being, so I'm to stick to the free choices offered here.
1) I would go to a store and play with the phones.
2) If you really will be doing a good amount of txt you might want one with a keypad. They make some small phones with full key sets that are not blackberrys or equivalents.
3) If the only you like is not free still think about getting it. Yes they are just phones but if you have to use it you want it to do what you need it to do. I expect if it is only ~30 or so the company would still pay for it, so don't cheap out and be miserable when cause you will be doing work on it.
I would skip the Juke (which looks annoying), the Verizon-brand phone (seriously for people who are scared of cell phones) and the first Samsung (u340; no Bluetooth). Beyond that, I think it's a question of which one's looks you prefer :)
I'd recommend one of the ones with bluetooth and the vz navigator (verizon's navigator is actually decent, and having it as an option if you get lost is nice). Unless you're planning to use the phone as an mp3 player, skip the juke. Other than that it's what form factor you like...
