Sometimes, life just gets stupidly hard. Or stupidly stupid. The best way to deal with it, is by making a change, and that change could be anything. Just something to break the cycle.
Your social life sounds similar to mine. At least you have the boys at work to hang out with.. my life has been interesting/stressful as of late but yet boring and lonely outside of seeing Brett. I miss having a social life and hanging out with friends all the time like I did in Vancouver

I wish I had some advise that wouldn't sound arrogant... Like what I just said. As for social life I think that maybe just go to the types of places that interest you and then just strike up a conversation with people you see there. Believe it or not the best opening line is still, "Hi, I'm guy" really your best asset there is your name. That alone can start a conversation. The hardest part that I have with meeting new people is that I'm always comparing them to the friends that I already have. The sad reality is that it's going to take time to get to that level of friendship with any one new. The worst that's going to happen is they'll ignore you and really at that point what have you lost? Maybe a little dignity, but only of you believe that some one you've never met is worth investing dignity in. I mean let's face it, who wants to hang out with some one that stuck up Any ways? When it comes to simply having a conversation you have alot going for you, you just need to keep it light. Say "Hey, I'm Guy and no I'm not American I'm
