In other news, it looks like I'm setting some sort of record for not updating.  Is this LiveJournal becoming a DeadJournal?  The Economist has this to say about that.  Facebook is doing for blogging what e-mail did for correspondence - strangling it.  Not that I can claim Facebook

I have noticed, of late, that people denigrate me for knowledge. It's becoming uncool to Know Things. Yet what are they going to do when we go away, like they want us to, and no one knows what to do when it all breaks down? Is there a story in that?

Aw, thank you! How did I not notice this till now? Partly, I suppose, because I've been more active on...Facebook. Which I thought I'd never be. But that's where readers are, so...*sigh*. Yeah.

I do still like LJ's particular abilities and longer attention span, though, so I won't be ditching it.

And maybe I'm just sour-grapesing about Facebook b/c I don't have the time I'd need to put in to make it work - LJ, as you say, has a much longer attention span.
