Middle school orientation
Oh goody. Tonight is middle school orientation and of course since I'm her mother I HAVE to go. Oh joy. Middle school. My baby is growing up and I'm getting old.
I still find it strange how the school district works. I grew up where Kindergartners through third grade attended one school then moved on to another for fourth through sixth. Middle school was called Junior High and home to seventh, eighth and ninth graders. High school was 10th through 12th grades. Here Kindergartners through fifth grade attend one school then they move onto middle school for sixth through eighth grade and finally high school from ninth to 12th grade. I know it makes more sense this way but it's still strange since that's not how I experienced school.
At any rate, tonight is orientation for her where we purchase her lock for her locker, school uniform (well for gym class), get her set up for band and the other clubs she wants to join (drama, choir, running). The middle school isn't near our house so she'll be taking the bus rather then walk to school. It's too far to ride her bike so we have to have get use to the bus again.
