It's now October and since mid-September we've been winterizing and remodeling our home. Well, actually the remodeling started months earlier after the fire in our bathroom. Our main living room was redone with a new hardwood floor then our hallways and of course our master bathroom. That turned out very lovely with the "Italia Plazzo" tile (a vinyl tile) we put down. The bathroom was painted in "almond" which is a creamy yellowish beige.
Now we're finishing the family room including fixing the duct work in that area since it "fell" last year. That has been a pain since it's a big open room with stone fireplace and has made for placing the hardwood floor a bit difficult. Least it hasn't been as bad as the living room floor where it sloped down in one area. I hate houses when they settle because they don't settle level and with the earthquake we had a few years ago, well we found out after we tore up the carpeting how much a portion of the living room sloped but it's fixed now despite that it was a pain to fix.
I don't think we have enough time this month to paint the exterior as we planned and prepped. The weather has been either to cold or too hot and muggy - sometimes both in the same day. The hubby wants to finish priming the exterior this week and paint next but I think it's too late in the season and the best thing we should do is winterize the lawn and clean out the garage and move stuff into a storage unit. The hubby thinking painting would be fine since a friend of his is loaning him a professional paint sprayer (the guy is a house painter or something along those lines).
I'm just completely exhausted between getting four of the six ready for school on a daily basis, picking up the eldest boy twice a week from school while dropping him off and picking both him and his older sister up one day of the week, running lots and lots of errands and of course house cleaning... I'm just tired. Exhausted really. I get very little sleep now, maybe six or seven hours a night IF one of the kids doesn't wake me up in the middle of the night and typically someone is waking me up in the early morning hours - either it's the eldest boy who crawls into bed with us at 3 AM or the twins who shortly follow. When the girls were their ages it took us nearly a year before they would stop crawling into bed with us however, we never had all three in bed with us at one time.
There are times I wish the kids were on summer vacation so I can sleep in late but then I think about the daily and constant fighting between them and I'm happy that they are in school. Then again they have many things that they are involved in with school and that too has me exhausted. Between band, private lessons, choir, PTO, speech therapy, library, grocery shopping, clothes shopping and the like, I can't seem to recall WHY I use to love to drive as a teenager. Then again as a teenager I had no real worries other then getting my homework done and making sure I passed my exams. Now why in the world did I have six kids for? Oh yes, because I'm Catholic. ::rolleyes:: Ah well, the kids will be off from school on Friday and I can sleep in then and tomorrow is Sunday but no sleeping in tomorrow for tomorrow we prime the family room to repaint it "almond" and later in the afternoon paint so that we can finish that room and move the computers in the new area.
It's an expensive process with the paint, flooring, duct work, cabinets, sinks, windows and the like but it's so worth it. Now only if I can "remodel" my wardrobe.
