One of Euphie's many outfits [Background]
Born the Third Princess of the Holy Britannian Empire, Euphemia li Britannia is the younger sister of Cornelia li Britannia, the Second Princess of the Holy Britannian Empire. With the common parentage of the 98th Emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire, Charles zi Britannia, she is also the half-sister of Prime Minister Schneizel el Britannia, Viceroy of Area 11 (Japan); Clovis la Britannia, as well as Lelouch and Nunnally vi Britannia and a crapton of other useless characters.
When Euphie was nine, Lelouch and Nunnally's mother Imperial Consort Marianne vi Britannia was assassinated in an assault which left the seven-year old Nunnally blind and paralyzed from the waist down as a result of bullet wounds to her legs. Ten-year old Lelouch confronted their father about the murder of Marianne, and was exiled to Japan (with Nunnally) as a political prisoner. The brutality of the war between Britannia and both the Chinese Federation and the Euro Universe (with eventual backing by Japan) eventually led the Royal Family to believe Lelouch and Nunnally to be dead. This of course devastates Euphie, who was extremely close to both of her half-siblings when they were children.
Fast forward to the year 2017; with the death of Viceroy Clovis la Britannia at the hands of Zero, Area 11 is sent a new Viceroy in the form of Cornelia li Britannia, and Euphemia is appointed her Sub-Viceroy. In order to escape her guards on a visit to Area 11 following her appointment as Sub-Viceroy, Euphemia jumps out of a window and falls into the arms of an unsuspecting Suzaku Kururugi. She introduces herself not as Princess Euphemia, but as Euphie, which is the nickname used by her family (and Suzaku himself). Upon her request, he spends the day showing her around Area 11. This culminates in the pair going to Shinjuku (against Suzaku's wishes) and witnessing an altercation between a group of Britannians and a Japanese man. Suzaku intervenes in hopes of reaching a peaceful resolution, but is verbally assaulted by both groups: one for being Japanese, and the other for his position in the military as an Honorary Britannian. During this time, Euphie realizes that she and Suzaku share a love for cats similar set of ideals, with both of them seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict between Britannia and Japan.
Her cover is blown when she interrupts the fight between Suzaku (along with Jeremiah Gottwald and Villetta Nu) and Kewell Soresi's purist faction, ordering both men to stand down right as Kewell tosses a chaos mine at the Lancelot. Euphemia places herself directly in the line of fire, and is saved when Suzaku activates the Lancelot's shield, risking his own life to protect hers. She then reveals her true identity, shocking everyone in sight but Lloyd Asplund. It is then that Euphemia asks Suzaku to lend her his strength in order to prevent further death, citing their respective losses of Clovis and Genbu.
It is later revealed that Euphie was the one responsible for the investigation into Suzaku's involvement in Clovis' murder, which allowed him to go free. She is also the one responsible for having him attend Ashford Academy.
While out in disguise once more, Euphie, along with much of the Ashford Academy Student Council, is taken hostage by the Japan Liberation Front at the Lake Kawaguchi Convention Center Hotel. In order to protect the other hostages, Euphemia reveals herself once more as the Sub-Viceroy and Princess, making herself the primary target instead. Cornelia, in order to protect her sister, refuses to utilize military action against the JLF, and Zero uses this to confirm his suspicions that Euphie is among the hostages, allowing him to negotiate with Cornelia for access. When taken to Kusakabe (who is dead), Euphemia meets up with Zero, who remarks that her kind nature hasn't changed a bit. He then goes on to say that like Clovis, she is also a child of the Emperor, which makes her his target. He does not kill her, however. This is the moment in which Euphemia realizes that Zero is Lelouch.
Euphemia is present at the Battle of Narita, staying behind at the base in order to witness her first taste of combat. When Cornelia is surrounded by the Black Knights and the JLF simultaneously, she reluctantly orders Suzaku to rescue her since both Guilford and Darlton are unable to reach her location.
Soon afterwards, Cornelia urges Euphie to choose her own personal Knight to protect her. While touring Clovis' memorial art museum for the inauguration ceremony, Euphemia witnesses Suzaku's battle with Tohdoh's forces and the Black Knights. When the enemies retreat and the Britannians within the museum begin to degrade him, Euphemia speaks up and declares that she has chosen Suzaku as her Knight, much to the dismay of the Britannians. Cornelia attempts to convince Euphemia to reconsider, reminding her of the discrimination against Honorary Britannians, (and the Japanese in general) but she stands firm in her decision to take Suzaku as her Knight.
In the aftermath of the bombing of Shikine Island by the Avalon, Euphemia ends up on Kaminejima Island, where she encounters Zero. She asks him to let her see his face once before he shoots her, knowing he is Lelouch, but he puts the gun down and removes his mask. He asks her if she knows anything about Lady Marianne's death, but she says that Cornelia has been investigating because she looked up to Marianne. On the island, they encounter Kallen Kozuki and Suzaku, and during a skirmish between the two groups, the ground collapses and they all land where Schneizel and Lloyd are.
Suzaku, because of the Geass put on him by Lelouch to 'live on', which led him to leave the battle on Shikine Island, is arrested for desertion and willingly steps down as Euphie's Knight, seeing himself as unworthy since he killed his father. At this point, Euphemia's inner turmoil is revealed, showing that she views herself as little more than a figurehead with unrealistic ideals. During a talk with Nina Einstein, she realizes that she has feelings for Suzaku. Shortly after, she contacts him via a private channel during his battle against the Chinese Federation and the Japanese rebels, when the Lancelot's power reserves run out. She encourages him to fight on while also declaring her love for him, which he reciprocates. When she screams at him to live, the Geass is activated, and the Gawain, carrying Lelouch and C.C., shows up and offers him an energy filler. Following the battle at Kyushu, Euphemia convinces Suzaku to become her Knight once more.
She attends the Ashford Academy Festival in disguise, and she runs into Nunnally there. They reminisce on the past together, and she ends up spending time with both Nunnally and Lelouch before her identity is revealed once again. Suzaku, piloting the Ganymede, picks her up and she broadcasts her plan to make the area around Mt. Fuji into a Specially Administrated Zone of Japan, in which Elevens may be referred to as Japanese once more. She does so in hopes that she can be with Nunnally and Lelouch once more, but Lelouch goes into a rage and believes her to be naive. This is extremely important to her, as she reveals that she gave up her right to the throne in order to achieve it.
[Personality]
Euphie is essentially your typical princess: beautiful, charming, stubborn, sweet, and ridiculously naive.
She most likely led an extremely sheltered life within the palace until she left for Area 11. Almost everything she does indicates that she was not educated in the ways of politics, which seems strange for a princess. However, since she isn't really close in the line of ascension, it's pretty understandable. Another reason why she is so naive and sheltered is probably because despite having a ton of half-siblings, she also had a real sibling, her older sister Cornelia. Since she was her only little sister, that we know of Cornelia doted on little Euphie from the earliest. Despite her cold exterior, Cornelia really does care about Euphie, probably moreso than she cares about anyone else. In order to protect her from the harsh realities of the world, Cornelia sheltered Euphie. It can be inferred that pretty much all of her older siblings sheltered her as well, since she appeared to be relatively close to Clovis, Schneizel always accommodates her wishes and regards her as one would a child, and Lelouch states that he loved dear sweet little Euphie more than anyone but Nunnally.
You don't often see Euphemia without a smile on. She's a really happy person, and tends to have an infectious personality. Euphie has an extremely big heart, and an equally open mind. It truly doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, chances are, Euphie will end up caring for you in some way. She fights for the rights of the Japanese and wishes to see violence eradicated so that a peaceful world in which Britannians and the Japanese can co-exist might be possible. To her, the happiness of her subjects comes before her own happiness, despite the fact that she constantly refers to her decisions as being selfish.
She's not very politically adept, but she can show the side of her which is undeniably commanding, brooking no arguments. For the most part though, she's only a figurehead, and she does realize this, and comes to accept it. This does nothing to her desire to establish a peaceful world, however.
Euphie is also extremely tactful and graceful, which reflects her role as a princess. She doesn't like stepping on people's toes, but will if it's necessary to defend someone she cares about. At times she may come across as clueless, but it's really just her naivety and cheerful nature coming out.
In addition to the happy, bubbly side, Euphie also possesses a serious side. While her political skills may not be up to snuff with Schneizel and her fighting isn't on par with Cornelia's, Euphie can be extremely brave, intentionally putting herself in harm's way in order to save someone else. This can be seen when she refuses to let the JLF harm the other hostages during the Lake Kawaguchi hotel jacking. Rather than standing by and watching someone else come to harm, Euphie blows her own cover and reveals her identity to the kidnappers, demanding that the other hostages be let go in exchange for her. She further displays courage when standing down Zero right afterward, showing no fear when he tells her of his plans for the royal family, even going so far as to confront him directly about Clovis' death. She also refuses to leave Suzaku on Shikine Island when Schneizel and the Avalon plan to blow the island up in order to trap and kill Zero. By disobeying direct orders and putting her life on the line once more, Euphie not only displays courage, but also extreme stubbornness. Essentially, she tends to place the lives of others as above her own, despite the fact that she is of royalty.
This stubborn streak grows as the season wears on, as the Euphie in the beginning tends to go along with whatever Cornelia suggests. By the time she chooses her Knight, Euphie has found a sort of resolve which allows her to make her own decisions, regardless of whether anyone agrees with them or not, and regardless of whether they are for her own good or not. Finally going against the wishes of Cornelia and the Britannian people in general, Euphemia chooses Suzaku, who is Japanese, as her personal Knight. This decision is key because it shows her resolve to finally do what she wants, and not what everyone else expects her to do. Her largest display of both stubbornness and independence, however, comes with the proposal of the SAZ, which is essentially contrary to the wishes of nearly the entire Britannian populace. She even goes as far as giving up her claim to the throne, and therefore any power, in order to do so. This decision also showcases the side of Euphie which is dedicated to the happiness of her people, despite calling the decision purely selfish.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Despite her distaste when it comes to violence, Euphie has been shown to possess the ability to pilot a knightmare frame, although her skill level is probably sub-par at best. She's nowhere near the level of Suzaku or Cornelia, that's for certain.
Aside from that...none really. She could probably charm the pants off of just about anyone though. It's all part of her ridiculously naive charm. 8)
[Affection]
Euphie's a really happy and idealistic person, and pretty much cares about everyone in some way. Chances are, if you show her affection, she'll respond positively, unless you're a complete stranger or a creeper like Nina. BUT GO FOR IT! Reactions may vary. Batteries sold separately. Etc, etc. :V
[Fighting]
Feel free to pick a fight with her if you want the easiest win ever. She's a lover, not a fighter. You can injure her however you'd like. Beyond that, please contact me first if you want to maim/kill her. I'd just like a bit of a heads up on that type of thing haha. I'm always open for discussion though.
