There was an article in the Star Newspaper today claiming that Indian Muslims are asking to be considered bumiputra and my reaction was: What? Why?! I mean, shouldn't you be proud to be Indians? There's a corner-shop-turned-food-court at the end of the street that's always busy at night. The collective smoke from the stalls engulf the interior in a thin grey veil. Cooking fires add their heat to an already too-warm night.
My family are seated round a long table, sharing cockles from a plate, and all is well.

So, our maid has gone back to her home town for a one month holiday, so we're left to fend for ourselves for a while.
