“When was the last time a man fucked you?”

It was a demand for information, not just for curiosity’s sake. It leveled her face. Her light mood retreated and Keith felt like he had gained something, somehow, making her serious again.

She closed her eyes, and when she opened them they were darker and catching light from all angles.

“When’s the last time,” she asked lowly, seductively, “a man has fucked you?” Then she cracked up.
I know that's a ridiculously long selection to quote, but, oh, man, I loved it so much, and while I could have quoted just the last two sentences, doing so would feel like ignoring what made those sentences great

Oh thank you! Very happy that it rang true for you. :) Your description of their dynamic could not have been stated better. And that's what's so appealing about writing them as a couple, at least to me. In those tense, highly-revealed situations, Keith can be an ass and Rachel can not only take it, but give it right back in her quirky, clever manner. And I adore that version of Keith as someone who can't quite get a handle on the situation, because Rachel is skirting around him, just beyond him, not taking him too seriously. And she's enjoying it.

They're just too much fun to write. So much fun, in fact, that my brain has actually jumped into the het!gutter rather than the slash one. Guess that's what adorkable tosses every weeknight will do to a person. XD

I just love the little details, Keith's 600 count sheets, Rachel's checkered boxers.

They're such an interesting mix of comfortable and awkward, with all of the things they say and don't say to each other (both the stuff they can't say and don't need to say.) It's just real to me, and really shows the depth of their relationship.

I really enjoyed reading this, and I like the way it sets everything up and then leaves things open. :)

Aw, thank you very much. So glad it struck you as realistic! They have such rapport and chemistry as friends--it's fascinating to imagine that conversion to a physical or romantic level.
