Whorish clothes lead men to sin and we need to know the evil of our influence, eh?

"It is evil for any woman to deliberately cause lasciviousness by her immodest attire.  Some women are very cruel.  This evil is VERY common today.  In fact, many people think it's perfectly ( Read more... )

I've never been a big fan of graffiti, mostly because I'm just so not thrilled whenever someone writes/paints a bunch of shit on my property.

That's true, though the focus of the forum was more public property, bathroom stalls, buildings, bridges, etc. versus personal property.

I would think most bathroom stalls people use are in buildings that are in fact owned by someone. Restaurants, etc.

Sure, but being owned by someone does not necessarily make them personal property. Taking a sharpie to a chain restaurant, or even a single restaurant, is very different than taking it to someone's house... it feels, well, less close to home.

I think poetry on a bathroom stall is art, same as I view other forms of graffiti art (John really helped broaden my view on this one). I have found some intrigueing points brought up on bathroom walls either in scratched out paint or sharpie. On the opposing view, I would say phrases such as "John Smith is a fucker." can be considered less artful, but even they stirr emotion, and sort of speak of the times...modern cave communication.

A year ago I would have said is was 'wrong and disgusting' or something to that affect. Yay for mind broadening experiences.

This is something I'd be interested to bring up in my poetry class.

As the the women in 'evil dress' thing, totally agree with you on that, in that 1) they don't give men enough credit, and 2) I think we have somewhat progressed past the time (most of us, hopefully...or at least are trying) when sex or thoughts thereof are considered horribly sinful and contemptuous.

My biggest problem with it actually isn't that they think sex and thoughts thereof are sinful, but that they think women spurring men to do evil are therefore themselves evil, simply through what they're wearing. But both are horrible. ^^

Yeah, I really like the discussion of how even the negativity and destruction can be the artist's point, like saying john smith is a fucker, or in the act of "destroying" property. (I don't view graffiti as a destruction, but some do.)

all I know is that graffiti cost me money for a business that I already barely make a profit on and whether it's art or gang signs the county will fine me if I don't paint over it no matter what it is so to me graffiti is a head ache. now thats not saying that I haven't laughed at some of the stuff I've read at different truck stops and what not.
