I've read a couple of her books, but not this one. I'll probably pick it up at some point.

The writer does seem to write characters who aren't exactly likable. Nevertheless, you do find yourself sort of on their side.

I don't know how she manages to write characters who aren't really that likable, yet give them something that makes the read want to know what happens and/or as you say the reader finds themselves sort of on their side.

I don’t think I’ve read anything by this author. I should check her out - I’m trying to avoid assembly line cozy mysteries for a while. 🙂

You should check her out. I can't say for sure if you'd like her books or not. But one thing she doesn't do is waste words.

I can imagine you are trying to avoid assembly line cosy mysteries at the moment; you do seem to have had your 'fill' of them recently.
