I think your problems with this book are the ones I tend to see as to why I don't care for mysteries; in order to carry the story forward, things tend to get a bit too complex. At least for me.
But it does sound like, all in all, it was good book. And since it only recently came out, there's always the possibility that there will be another one on the horizon.
It was very strange the way he suddenly did the ending. It's not a thing that I find common in crime books, but I can see how it might for you, as it isn't your preferred genre.
It was a very good book. Normally I would expect another book, but with the new series starting in January, I have to wonder if he'd taken it as far as he can.
Like the sound of this though I didn't read it too thoroughly as I shall be reading it myself eventually. Mind, by the time I get there I'll have forgotten everything I've read here!!!!! 😂
I tend to read cozies rather than thrillers just because I usually prefer “light” entertainment. This does sound interesting, though … especially since some of the victims are retired teachers. (I have several relatives who are retired teachers.)
That's one of the beauties about the crime genre, there is so many different sub-genres within it. I probably wouldn't recommend reading this book given you haven't read any of the others. Whilst the crime in each book tends to be stand-alone, the characters are on going.
Hubby's a retired teacher and we have several friends who are also retired teachers.
I enjoy reading yours and other's book reviews, even though I don't usually comment.Just had to this time, however, as 'Occupational Therapist' jumped off the screen at me.
As a UK OT, myself, I'm aware it's a profession you don't see much in mainstream media, so this book has my interest piqued. I don't know the author or series but am always up for a recommendation and you think it's good, so that's enough for me.
You're right, OT doesn't pop up much in mainstream media. I've had experience of OTs from the patient side. It's a varied role and you all do some jolly good work.
I came across the author several years ago now and both hubby and I really enjoy his books. If you do read it I hope you enjoy it.

It was, the last bit aside, a very good book. *Grins* I know what you mean.

Thank you.
