Christmas Pretties Day 18

In style this card is similar to one I shared a few days ago. For me it is another lovely picture with so much to admire. And it has a quintessential Christmas feel to it, even though in truth there isn't anything overtly Christmassy in it. There's the robin and the holly berries and to my mind the birds in the sky have a similar outline as Father ( Read more... )

I really do love this artist's skilful mix of wild flowers in winter, birds and a wintry landscape. I'd live there too!

It does seem more wintery, than Christmasy, but the hints of red do bring Christmas to mind. A lovely scene.

That’s a nice collection of birds. It looks like you have a robin, pheasants, cardinals (?), crows (?) and geese. And the geese are definitely mimicking Santa’s sleigh.

There really is a mixture of birds. Actually, I must confess I hadn't noticed the pheasants - and I should have done so as we have at least half a dozen (male & female) in our garden. I'm glad it isn't just me who sees the geese as mimicking Santa's sleigh. I think you're correct with both cardinal and crow.

Cardinal and crow is what I’d think if they were in my yard, but we’re not exactly in the same geographical area. 🙂 At least our robins are quite different.

Indeed we aren't *g* We have crows here, do you know I'm not sure about cardinals. I've got so used to seeing them in pictures, but I'm not sure they are a British bird. I shall look it up.

Well firstly I got told about the Catholic Church Cardinals *g* (I know, I should have put 'bird'). It appears we have four (out of the 49) species here. Including one in London that doesn't migrate.

So even pretty pictures can be educational *g*

I was aware, from previous years pictures, that our robins and yours are different.
