A nifty idea ganked from recrudescence's journal.
In honor of RSL's birthday on February 28, rsl_bday_drive has been created to raise fannish donations for one of his favorite charities: Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
deelaundry had the idea of writing custom fics for anyone who donates and provides her with a prompt. phinnia and alex51324 have also jumped onboard. Since I'm all for ficcing in the name of charity, and really do believe imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I'm stepping on too.
I'm following Dee's example and offering custom fics to anyone who donates, at 50 words a dollar. $5 gets you a 250-word ficlet; $100 gets you a 5,000-word custom fic of your very own, etc. Just leave a comment with your donation amount and your prompt!
So whether you're a fan of RSL's portrayal of Wilson, his geeky glasses, or just his fabulously awkward interviews, this is an excellent way to support a worthy cause and get a custom fic thrown into the bargain.
This was a very cool idea, and I was wondering what anyone else thought of it. Also, I think it would be easier to do if instead of just a vague prompt, the one doing the donating got more specific. As in, more like an outline to a fic rather than a simple idea.
ETA: Okay, m'in on this-- open for requests as I'm confident I won't get many. =D
