Summary: Jiki wants Nai to love him above all others?
Notes: i think i'm the only person in the world who ships this.
Nai stands uncertainly in the doorway of the library, a Rabbit clutched to his chest, and brows furrowed in a decisive little pout. Jiki put his hand to his mouth to hide his smile, and waits while Nai fidgets. “Don’t bully Gareki!” Nai shouts suddenly, and ignores the rabbit as it tries to hush him.
“Was I bullying him?” Jiki asks lowly, and turns from his open book to look at Nai properly. Nai squirms beneath his gaze.
“T-Tsukumo said you were bullying. I don’t know what it is, but you’re mean to Gareki...” he trails off, his crusade conflicted. “i want everyone to get along so...”
Jiki grins, imagines Nai blushing and his alone to two with, unattached to the others who were so very useless. “Do you want to get along with me?” Nai nods. “Why, we’re not friends.” Nai gives him a stricken look, squeezing the rabbit in his arms with all his strength, eyes wide and threatening tears. “I only want to be your friend if I can be your favourite.”
“You can be my favourite.” Nai replies happily, grinning. Were Jiki any weaker, he might swoon, entranced by Nai’s sweetness. He’s not weak though, he’s heartlessly cruel. He beckons Nai closer, and appeased by such a seemingly easily request, Nai moves to hm.
“Do you know what favourite means, Nai?” The boy shakes his head. “It means you want to spend the most time with me, and see me, and love me. More than anyone else.” Nai frowns, suddenly understanding the weight of the words.
“But...Karoku?”
“If you want to be my friend, I have to be most important. More important that Karoku. Or Gareki.” Nai looks torn. He stares into Jiki’s eyes hard, and Jiki tries to look just as solemn, but a smile is splitting his mouth, devious and sadistic.
“More than Gareki.” Nai repeats with a nod. Jiki lets the smile wash over his features. Nai smiles back, and accepts the kiss Jiki plants against his damp little mouth as though it is a matter of course.
Later, when Gareki spots Nai tagging along behind Jiki like a little pet and calls him to his side, Jiki can’t help the outright laugh when Nai blushes and sputters out “sorry, Jiki is my favourite.” Later still, he will fight with Gareki over what “he’s been teaching the damn animal.”
And he will win.
