I've long had this vague interest in steampunk, and thought it might be cool to put together an outfit of some kind - but never really had any idea where to begin. The Victorian-dress part is easy; I'm a costume design major, after all, so neither the design nor the research element is particularly complicated for me. The actual

I AM INDEED. I'm going to Rub-n-Buff the frame so they look brassy, and replace the currently-elastic band with leather and a big buckle, and also get some of those little button-shaped scrapbooking embellishments and put them along the edge and paint over them so they look like rivets. 8)

OOOOH, Steampunk is so awesome. I don't know enough about it, to, like, give a speech, but I know a bit and it's AWESOME. XDD I want to see your character design!
