I think you've been wanting to move to either Belgium or Holland for the longest time Andy and I think if that is what you want to do, you should. The language barrier is something you can and will overcome even though it won't be easy since everyone will talk English to you the minute they figure out you're an English dude, but yeah, go for it. If anything else it will be a great learning experience.

Well, perhaps I have wanted to do it for a while ;) But 2008 is gonna be a year of good chance (not jut change - I want the good qualifier!) so I'll be spending the first part of it looking for ways to make this happen, and of course balancing things out on the pros and cons ;) From what I gather, even if I did speak Dutch, most people would work out I'm English and speak English to me anyway :D

I'm in agreement with Kurt here - you've wanted it for so long, and if it doesn't work out you can always go back indeed (or move on). You know you're welcome to our spare bedroom if you need it to work out stuff - at least it would give you an option of not needing a place to stay in a hurry.
